Below are instructions for getting the MID816 Android Marketplace to show all available apps.
I have taken Gushie's original instructions and attempted to further detail them.

Root the tablet (the permanet root found here http://www.slatedroi...p?topic=13585.0 )
- Make sure your wireless is on and connected

Edit the build.prop file
1) Open Root Explorer
2) Browse to System
3) Click and hold on build.prop (on bottom)
- Scroll down to Edit Text
4) Click on the Text to Allow Modification
- Find this line: ro.build.fingerprint= (located about half way down)
5) Change it to the following
- ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.2/FRF91/43546:user/release-keys
- or -
- ro.build.fingerprint=generic/utv210/utv210/smdkv210:2.2/FRF91/eng.urbetter.20110301.142336:eng/test-keys
6) Save the File

Open Android Market and then Click on Home (launcher)

Go to Settings->Applications->Manage->Running
- Click Market
- Then Clear Cache (NOT CLEAR DATA!!!!)
- Then Force Stop
- Click Google Services Framework
- Click Clear Data
- Click Force Stop

Open Android Market (it will error this is GOOD!)

Shutdown and Restart the tablet
- Wait for Wireless to Kick In
- Wait for System to Finish Loading

Open Android Market
- If it opens without an error GREAT!
- If it opens with the same error... give it a couple minutes or multiple tries at opening (it will go through)

FIX for Gingerbread - 2.3! - Thanks again to drfaust!

**PLEASE NOTE**
This Market patch/fix is ONLY for the Gingerbread Images!

Hello I've managed to fix market. Problem was in permissions (/system/etc/permissions). I've got right permissions from Nexus S system.img. Also I've modified build.prop (added 3 or 4 lines fingerprint, etc). Also tried to update market app but got some prolems so for now there will be original market.

MID816.com - Gingerbread - Full Market Fix - drfaust-Market_fix.zip

Instructions:
1) Connect your tablet to PC
2) Make sure that your adb driver is installed properly.
3) Power device and wait for it to boot (if already powered do nothing

)
4) Run fix_market.bat
5) Go to Settings->Applications->Manage->Running
- Click Market
- Then Clear Cache (NOT CLEAR DATA!!!!)
- Then Force Stop
- Click Google Services Framework
- Click Clear Data
- Click Force Stop
6) Run market, you will see error (that is good !)
7) Reboot your device and try your market it should work

Try to search for skype, youtube etc
9) You can compare apps count available for your device with total count of apps.
From your PC goto market.android.com and search for some app (for example youtube), check result count.
Then try to search for that app in your tablet's market. Compare app count, difference shouldn't be big.
For example if searching for video: PC found 4602 Apps and MID found 4361.

So I just flashed the new F/W, rooted the device, then attempted the full market. However, I can't get passed Root options step because when I attempt to enable HiAPK, it's telling me it's not able to work on my 'phone'. Any suggestions here?

"hold" the file to edit

edit root.bat from opt-root and remove last line "reboot" to enable r/w system

i did everything as instructed, ending up with an updated prop-file.
error comes but even when i start several times, error remains.

what did i do wrong?
i edited the file directly with root explorer, as i have permanent root.

I found that error persisted for a little while.
You may want to go back in to the Settings-->Accounts and see if you can do any kind of refresh.

Also I suggest opening the Market.
The go to Setting --> Manage Programs
Find the running Market process and force stop it.

Wait a couple minutes... or even reboot your tablet... then reopen the market.

i tried all of these (cannot refresh google account, just "syncrinize now" in menu.
so i tried force close market (tried with clear data and also not clear data).
I am using the original build.prop now, no success ...
market shows "licence agreement page" and then fthe "error, try later" dailogue.

shall i force close and clear all data of the framework and market all the tims, or just close market.
by the way i just edited the build.prop with root explorer directly and thereafter restored the original by just renaming it, so i did not change contents.

i cleared cache (not data) and force close market, cleared data and forced closed framework, restart market - error, shut down, etc .. error persists.

Yes wifi is working.
What is the wrong way (and the right)?
The file is changed correctly and also the original is Not working anymore.
Guess i have to Start from the scratch and use stock rom.

You have to have wifi on and good reception. through the whole procedure unless says otherwise.

id suggest waiting until Tass uploads his latest image and flashing that as it will have Market and root enabled.

ok, so steps 1-9 can be done by this:
download the 2 files attached to my post
#1 is ssed dled from here (to edit files, alternative to sed in *nix)
#2 is my batch script to pull the file from MID, edit it, put back a new one and reset the device
notes:
you dont need ssed, the script pauses (press any key) after calling ssed
if you dont want to use it, at this time just open the file build.prop.bck , edit the line as in the regular guide and save as build.prop ... then press any key
i use reboot just because remounting back to read-only is not trivial

I followed that steps and my market seems to work ok (now I see all the "problematic" apps)

Maybe I still miss something

The only difference is that this method changes how the device is reported to the Market place the 'Big' manufactures of Android devices get there devices approved by google allowing them to access 'Paid for and protected apps' the build.prop change essentially fakes the device reported to the Market place.
