Google Nexus Tablet Coming!!!

Information is out there that Google will offer a 7" tablet made by Asus. It will be available for purchase in May.

To keep cost down, Google decided to not use Tegra3. Very likely will use one of, Nvidia Tegra2, TI OMAP4 or Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM chip.

Price will be $200 US or under. Maybe even as low as $150 US.

It is being made to take on the Kindle Fire. ie, Amazon is taking business away from Google with their own app store. Google makes their money off of people buying apps from Google Play. The more people that buy the Fire, the more customers Google loses.

Specs should be fairly similar to, but slightly better than, Kindle Fire.

Info was obtained from these stories:

I FOUND THIS TO BE VERY INTERESTING AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS!!!
Kindle Fire is 2nd hottest selling tablet after Apple's iPads. Nexus tablet should kill the Fire off!!!

With Nexus tablet, no more worry about open market/incompatible apps and fooling around with build.props! Also, should get good firmware support for the Nexus too!

There is now an app on the nexus 7 which allows access to USB drives without root. I have it and it works.

Really good from what I have seen. Though you have to give up HDMI & micro-SD. But you get a quality product. Quick updates and well working Android OS. 10 hours battery life. Tegra3 chip. GPS, Bluetooth and 1280x800. Crisp display.

Google is also making announcement about Nexus 7 32 GB version on Oct 29. Good to wait a little longer to see what is happening before ordering Nexus 7. Maybe wait till Nov. 1st.

Later,
Just got a Nexus 7 as an early Xmas present. The 16g model was $199 but the Gamestop we went to didn't have any more 16g so I got the 32g instead($249). FREAKING AWESOME!!! I dont have much experience with many tabs, only the Pandigital 7" before this. But this thing is amazing. It's not rooted though, which is why I came here. I'm wanting it rooted for better backups and a couple other security related things. No SD card does suck, but not much. Drop box and Google drive mean I can get anything on it. But you can also transfer stuff via the USB cord and your PC. Except for accessing my encrypted passwords file, my PC has been feeling left out for over a day now, lol.

I love you Google!!!! And you too Mom!!!! =)

The Nexus 7 is a really great tablet spec wise. Should give great performance and with Google making the OS will have the best and latest version of Android too. I am sure you will enjoy it very much.

Looks like they dropped the 8GB model and now offer only 16GB & 32GB. Good move by Google. 8GB was too small especially without microSD. Getting rid of 8GB was good move to make. It now makes the Nexus 7 tablet much more tempting to buy compared to a Chinese 7".
Indeed, it's a great value proposition for consumers, but I can't see Google's other partners (eg Samsung, Motorola, ASUS themselves) being pleased with this, since it undercuts them massively.
exactly i just brought a new android tablet, thinking of getting another tablet, some good info, i am going to look into it, thanks for the info
Does anyone know is it possible to get BTLE working with this one (I have understood that there is HW support, but now official java-api)?
Have a 32gb model on its way. Will post pick and first impressions when it arrives.

Is it possible to use an External USB Hard Drive instead of a Flash Drive? Same question for other Tablets with Mini USB?

As long as the tablet can provide enough power to the drive, it should be fine.

Running Nexus 7 with MultiRom and TWRP Recovery booting succesfully the following:
- Android 4.2.2 Stock Rooted
- Ubuntu Touch 13.04
- Ubuntu Desktop 13.04 with Kali Linux Penetration Testing Repositories/Tools
very nice, get our portable mobile hacking on! Works wonderfully all though the people are getting scared at the local starbucks

Anyone on here notice if the 4.3 update actually cures the lag issue?
@Groupers
I don't know, i just try Nexus 7 from my friend, and for what i fell, this 4.3 is very smooth in Nexus 7 16GB version.
And baterry life is amazing.

Now i'am regreting my Ainol Aurora II, it sometimes lag, and overheat , i just play game Dark Avenger in High Grafik seting, and its very hot in my Aurora II.
Even my Screen in left area is hot, and make Virtual DPad sometimes error, keep press-ed.
And drain a lot of my batery too, just playing 30 Minutes it took about 30% of my battery, compared to Nexus 7, i play game Dark Avenger in Very High Grafik seting, for 30 Minutes play only take about 5% batery.

Now i will stay away with SoC like Amlogic, Rockchip and Allwinner, it's not worthed anymore for me, after i have Snapdragron Dual Core and try Tegra 3,
My Snapdragon Dual Core 1Ghz with Andreno 203 can play Dark Avenger without Overheat, it's just warm in the back casing, the screen still cool, just like with Tegra 3.

I Just have plan to get Vido Mini One with RK3188, but now , i will wait for Nexus 7 2013 with Snapdragon S4 Pro to official released in Indonesia, it much worhted then Vido Mini One.
Vido Mini One cost about 200+ USD in indonesia and Nexus 7 2013 16GB is gonna be around 250-300USD, but if its over than 300USD, i will just get Nexus 7 2012 for just 190USD.
Btw i got my Ainol Aurora II for 145 USD.
