They may not come with a lot of the 1st party Google Apps, but you can get those apps on there by manually downloading the APK files and installing them using a 3rd party app installer. I do not know if the gmail app works or not (I don't have my device yet) but I know other google apps do (Voice, Maps, etc).
dl a version of gmail off rapid share.it installs, but does not run
What firmware/rom are you running? Original, 1st Eken update, 2nd Eken update, ECOTOX, Darexius, etc.
this device doesnt have the framework to talk with gmail, I'm working on a working build with google apps, etc. buts as i dont have the device yet (its been 2weeks now) its slow, and i cant get alll the info i need.
My goodness Ecotox, you've been waiting for your device FOR EVER. Do you have tracking info yet?
yeah...and i still dont know where it is, it isnt even in the US yet, and its not in china.....so its in some other F$#%ed up dimension where packages go to piss people off while they wait for them to arrive .....
You need two libraries in /system/framework. Grab it from another phone (the libraries are something like com.google.*.jar).Also you need the "permission" files, these have the same name, but with .xml extension, and they are located in /system/etc/permission.Then you need some more apks: SetupWizard, checkin, GoogleApps, GoogleSubscribedFeedsProvider, GMailProvider, GMail. As far as I remember these are the bare minimum. You should put these in /system/app.Btw, to find out why an app doesnt install, open a telnet connection to the device (so you get a root shell) and run "logcat".Hope this helps :)I got gmail and google calendar working and syncing on mine. Market almost works, I can browse apps, but download always fails :-(
wow you got it working? every time i added the needed files to my rom it made it either not boot or loop FC
Getting the market to run does sound like a step in the right direction! Does it FC when you try to download? Or just fail to download? Thanks for the hard work!
i dont know if its related, by i have a pulse, and there has been a leaked 2.1 rom released. i tied this on my device and the market did the same, worked fine, but always failed to download. until someone changed the fingerprint of the build see herehttp://android.modaco.com/content-p...1-bigbearmdc-and-pauls-pulse-2-1-rom/page/40/post 58
i have checked to rom and the fingerprint is.fingerprintro.build.description=generic-user 1.6 Donut eng.simenxie.20100430.213426

I would *love* to have a syncing calendar...DanBTW, thanks!
huh. I located the files, Android 1.6, and copied them into the appropriate folders. Now it's stuck on the android startup animation. What now? Reflash?...12 hrs later: Ummm, nevermind. I reflashed with ecotox. But still, I followed gyoker's instructions. Is there a method I should have used to do this? I mean, I literally copied files into the folders. Is that wrong? Information, please...Dan
