hi all.so, as usual... confused.a g-sensor. this is Hardware right, not software?cuz when i ask a seller if the MID has a G-sensor, I'm sometimes told not yet, but we are "debugging" because it's new. IT will be an update. You can't "add" a g-sensor with an Android update correct? Thanks

Well, the G-Sensor is a piece of hardware inside the device. But to interface with this hardware and produce a result (ie. which way the device is orientated) you need software. So they are probably just calibrating it to make sure it returns the correct value.
Mike thanks for that, also have wondered about that :)
thanksseemed obvious, but in this market, nothing is obvious (grin)

I'd like to change the guist of this topic a little....Anyone with a MID WITH G-SENSOR..... how well has it been working for you?Is it more gadget or great device? It's one feature that's making me go back and forth between a couple models now (mainly the Telechip opad variety)Thanks
I have the unbranded Eken m001, and I do find that there are times where the g-sensor just seems to get "stuck". I have to rotate back and forth a few times before it registers that the tablet has been moved to portrait or landscape. The other annoyance is that it's no where near as seamless as the ipad, the whole OS (1.6) seems to have to redraw, similar to rebooting the display driver in windows. On top of that, some apps also need to refresh (ACV I'm looking at you), so all in all, a simple aspect change can lead to a 20 second update.

Ecotox's ROM seemed to fix this problem for me, it rotates in about a second. Still not seamless, but better than before.
