I'd like it to be known that I attempted to take care of this outside of public view, namely by having discussions with some of the other moderators about this, but it's became clear here recently that nothing is going to change unless we address this problem publicly.Over the course of the past few weeks, the moderator lawman has personally attacked me and insulted me because he apparently "doesn't like me." What exactly did he have to say? I quote:
I do find it odd that people are angry over the rebate when we all knew the form was inaccurate, that Kohl's was honoring the rebate at the door because the form was inaccurate, and people were getting these for, in some cases, 70% or more off anyway. Some people... ahem... actually MADE money profiteering on the discounts. I also wonder how happy these same people will be when K-mart is less liberal with returns...
This was a post in reference to my sale thread in the market selling one of the Pandigital Novels I got for next to nothing. Apparently lawman doesn't believe in supply and demand, nor negotiation, and assumes that the common SlateDroid forum member is a dimwit that doesn't know the actual value of a product one would attempt to purchase. In my sale thread, he lashed out and informed everyone how much I paid for the device, and basically tried (unsuccessfully I might add) to hinder the sale of my items. Next...
Didn't you go off to bother the Augen people?
No explanation necessary...I think it's obvious though he feels some kind of threat or else such a post would have been completely unnecessary. And now...
And you do say so yourself...I have yet to make any use of my admin access in any way with respect to you. I could, but don't, I could have, but didn't. I don't like the way you do things, and I don't see how you've been particularly beneficial to my slatedroid fiefdom, but that's your prerogative. I also don't have to like you. My point is, you've abandoned the device, and appear to have nothing to add to this particular forum but invective. You're welcome to be here, but you can see why people who still have time, money, effort and energy to put into the device aren't terribly receptive to that. Good luck with the Augen though...
Here he outright admits to not liking me...and mind you, this is all because of a single thread where we discussed politely about the type of company Pandigital is. I had some choice things to say about it, and so did he...but the difference is that I made it a point to express that he had a right to his own opinion, and I respected his right to it. Apparently that didn't matter to him though, and now he gets to sit ignorantly up on his little moderator pedestal and look down his noses at the rest of us because he doesn't agree with us or the way we handle our business.Changing directions here now...Honestly, I do not care that he doesn't like me. I'm sure he doesn't care that I don't give a damn about him either. My problem with him has to do with the fact that he is 'still' a moderator regardless of all of this middle-school drama. With every other forum I have frequented in the past and present, moderators far and beyond are taught to remain neutral and do their absolute best not to instigate any kind of arguments where someone might be singled out. Effectively, he's using his moderator status to challenge me - all because he knows that if I decide to respond back or lash out he has the ability to lock the thread, modify my post, or find some other way of trying to shun me from the forums. Is this really the kind of moderator you want looking out over such a promising forum board as this? Mind you, I am not saying take away his moderator status...although at this point I think I've proven it would most definitely be justified. I do think that the mods of this as well as any board, should keep a neutral stance in all arguments and do their best not to add fuel to the fire and create all-out chaos, because if this continues that is definitely what it will turn into. While I don't wish anything negative against lawman, I do not believe in his current state of mind that he is doing an acceptable moderating job. I realize that I'm not perfect, and most likely a lot of my responses aren't posted with as much caution as they should have. I'm no saint, but I'm also no moderator either and I've proven that it probably would not be a good idea for me to be one either. On the other hand, if I were in a position such as lawman, I sure as hell would not single an individual out and inject my thoughts into someone else's FS posts, belittle him, and make him look like he's the bad guy and I'm a complete and perfect angel. This is not the type of person I would want to allow to moderate my forums, that's for sure. I dare not try to tell anyone how to do their own job since they do it so well, but at this point I do think it is completely necessary to expose this type of behavior coming from a moderator. The definition of a moderator is one that arbitrates or mediates, or one who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate in a neutral position. I think it's pretty much a given that we all deserve moderators that make the community a better place - not a worse one.

I think you need to give over and realize the roll you played in these conversations. You haven't exactly been an angel in all of this. Am I defending lawman? Nope, he has been just as bad. It takes two to have issues like this. Take the high road and let it end.

Moderators are supposed too be neutral, but all are still entitled too there opinions, i see nothing here that disrupts the running of the community, other than a simple conflict of ideals. Bear in mind all staff here are unpaid, we all do this for the love of the community.
