So i gotthe white novel e-reader did some lurking, read the tut's and guides for hacking, applied the basic hacks, added 2 different homescreens, panda and "home" they are called on the selection screen, went on to the advanced hacks, tried the ugly market hack didnt work the first time, tried the non ugly that didnt work, so i went back to the ugly and got it to work, got the ID from the emul, and applied it to the device, and finally did the wifi fix hack, restarted the wifi and the green wifi thing up top.Now my problem is when i run the market app, i can browse the apps and start downloading them, however the download sits at "starting download" forever. I clearly have internet, im able to browse the net and do email and even the fast the market apps show up is attributed to my internet, right? Is my ID faulty?ooooor? Thanks,Lurker
If you don't find your fix in the link Mark provided, try this.
Reset your id per the instructions in the non-ugly hack and reapply the non-ugly hack.
Delete /data/system/accounts.idTry market again.
It should ask for your id/pw again.
This should create a new id.
Use adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.googleapps/databases/gls.db "select * from meta"; to see the id and verify that it's no longer 0.
Try an install and see if it now works.

Just had to take a minute and tell you guys how grateful I am for all your hard work and endless hours putting together such great stuff! I got my white novel recently with points from my Hilton frequent stay account (so it was essentially FREE!!!!) and can't tell you how much I enjoy my new Android Tablet, thanks to you!I used the original "hack the novel" zip file with volume hack and panda home 91 and have since downloaded and installed (with the batch file installer - couldn't get the automated installer to work no matter how hard I tried) dozens of new apps and currently use Home++ as my home screen/launcher, which I love.Even with the wiki, and being computer literate, it took time, patience and some fortitude, but I now have a fully fuctional Android Tablet that gets better every day with new apps, all because a bunch of nice guys used their technical abilities and took their time and made the effort to show us all how to hack it and make it what it COULD be, what it should have been to begin with. So, long story short, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!

There... be dragons. Damn you QVC.There was a whole heckuvalot of n00pid over at Facebook at the I Love the PDN page this last weekend too, for the white as well as the black. Tipster did some real damage with his misinformation/gimme a screenshot/ROM rip-off campaign. I left as many signposts and breadcrumbs as I could.

The exchanges where we clashed were deleted by the host, but his stuff remained ... until I walked the site owner step-by-step through the Nook Fix and then installing JackBox's OP and then again when he mod'd his spare black PDN. Fun times.

Calm down, take a breath. You haven't given any details as to which download you have used.

The easiest way to revert back to stock is to download the proper FW that corresponds with which PDN you have.
Try the SD card method directly from Pandigital here: [SD card update no longer available from PD]

Their instructions are pretty clear. If you do not have an external SD card, you can copy the file to your internal SD by copy/pasting the FW to the PD_Novel directory while plugged in to your PC and then flashing as per the instructions on the Pandigital site.

Thanks Mrsburnout!
I downloaded the Open Platform Firmware from the Pandigital site. I mistakenly believed that they would offer the most useful one, I was wrong. Wish I would have started with the ones listed on this site.
But, first I want to go back to what came from the factory while I bring myself up-to-speed on this site's Wiki. Then, I'll try it again.
I have a separate SD card. So that I am clear, if I reload the Pandigital firmware version on the Pandigital site, I'll be back to everything that came with the device? If so, I'll do that right away. Any other advice you can give is also appreciated.

You are correct.. place the zip file from the Pandigital site on the external sd card, put in the Novel and hold the vol up and on switch simultaneously.. hold for about 10 sec.. it will take a few minutes, but it should be restored to original.

I just got the PDN white version and would like to download android apps without voiding my warrently.  The PD website has the firmware for the android os but it clearly said it would void the warrenty if i switched.  Is it possible to download apps without the firmware that voids the warrently.  I am  a newbie to this technology though I am fairly competent on pcs and laptops.  So i could use some guidance here  thanks

You can't download apps without using either the Pandigital Open Platform from their site or one of the custom frimware from this forum.. either works well if you do it right. You can flash back to the original firmware and get it back to original. I can't comment on whether Pandigital would really withhold warranty.I susoect it mostly means they won't provide help and support.

Hello All. So Im something of a newb but not entirely but here is my issue: Im running ver4 (9/23 based) altered firmware on the White PD Novel, which has worked beautifully (a HUGE thank you to all who made that possible)for over 3 months now. Still haven't gotten the market to work but I don't much need it. My Tab was working FINE yesterday so I charged it before bed. When I woke up to use it again, nothing happened at all. Thinking the battery hadn't charged I plugged it in again and still got nothing. I hit the reset switch, brought the charge light back on but it still didn't power up. So I let it charge until the light turned green and tried again. Still nothing. Ive reset it again and again, removed and replaced both memory cards and still nothing. So I'm at a loss for what to do.
The only changes that happened were that I installed a few apps(though I rebooted a few times since then) and my pc crashed while I was connected (gotta love windows...) but nothing else. If anyone has any suggestions I would revere you as God. Please help if you can. Thanks!

Also you might try a three handed reset, easier to do if you have an assistant. Try pressing volume up, holding the power slide on, and using a straightened paper clip in the reset slot all at once.
