I'm new to eBooks. What type of "book" files do you typically like the best (PDF, TXT, HTML, Kindle, etc., etc., etc.) and which reader on PDN to use? Please state reason (eg, ease of use, high functionality-like pics included, etc.)- Pay- Free (gutenberg project, etc.)

I like Kindle. It has loads of free content, lots of paid content, decent format (including pics), and convenience (Amazon). I have been using it for a couple of years now, and I am very happy with it.
I have mostly ePub books & don't have any problems. There is a lot of support for the format & Calibre is a good tool for converting files. I am currently using the free Aldiko 'cause it was recommended here & it seems to work well. Still learning how to use it & it appears that after the tips screen is cancelled, with imported books (SD card) you must tap the screen for the book to show. I will disable the tips screen & see if that changes. Thought, at first, that it wasn't working on imported books. Edit: OK the blank screen thing went away???? The books reside on the SD card, so it must remain in tact as far as I know. It would be nice if they could be stored in internal mem.Cheers, kev
Anyone else use eBrary? Anyone know how to export their apparently online-only .pdf-like content to an eReader?
x2 on EPUB. I finally settled on that format as my own personal "standard" because any library using the Overdrive application to loan out books use Adobe DRM'd EPUB format. Most e-readers support EPUB, including the OF PN and iPad - the only major exception being the Kindle. I haven't decided on a PN e-reader app yet (will try Aldiko next)Probably the largest caveat with EPUB is the lack of Kindle support, so it's really a personal choice depending on your needs.
Am I the only one incredibly annoyed by the way that Aldiko blacks the screen and loads every time there is a chapter change? It drives me crazy.

Nope I don't care for it either.I have hundreds of books in .prc/mobi/azw Which I read on Kindle or Kindle on PC. Kindle for android will not read .prc/mobi files not in your online library. So it looks like I'll be using Calibre to convert to EPUB. I already use Calibre to maintain my library.
Ever since using Aldiko, I now prefer .epub format books.
I have a kindle and I have a nook... Amazon has a great selection of books, and a lot of free books.. The nook of of course has access to the epub format available at the library, which I like very much... but I love the actual Kindle better then the nook.... I have them all installed on the novel, although the kindle software isnt working... I imported books I previously bought from B&N onto the Novel, now just to do that wiht the Kindle and my world will be almost complete..
