Epad problems

Hi I was wondering if someone could help. I've brought an Epad that I was told was on firmware 1.6 which means as much to me as greek. Anyway I installed a youtube downloader and all my problems started from there. It wouldn't stay on for more then 5 mins it kept shutting down. I decided to do a factory reset and which point it wouldn't go past the Android boot up screen. I googled it and downloaded a file that I then put on a sd card which seemed to work till it came up with NO UPGRADE PACKAGE, EXIT. Not sure if it's a serious problem or i'm just being a plum. I've seared and searched for an answer. Also I formatted the sd card in fat and fat32 any help would be appreciated.
