Around Nov. 7 Stream Networks TV announced the "eLocity A7+" (Model A7-004) tablet. It is similar to the "A7" but with a 1024 x 600 screen and 4 point multi-touch support. I think they took out the haptic buzzer which is no real loss. There is a special introductory price, which I just forgot.

Anyway, it should be showing up in stores fairly soon.

I got this system for Christmas and have been putting it through its paces. In fact I haven't fired up my laptop since before Christmas. It Runs 2.2 Froyo and Steam Networks has just had a System update in December. I would love to put Gingerbred on the thing but there doesn't seem to be an update to Gingerbred yet. There is also no plans of updating to Honeycomb due to hardware limitations. I have been pretty happy so far although there is no google market. I did install the Amazon Market which is pretty decent. The Google market would be better though. 3D applications are amazing Ive been hooked on Earth and Legend the past Few days But i'm an oldtime gamer and loving the Illusia which is a pretty nice 2d RPG. I have found myself Going to less than reputable websites to download software that I cannot get in the Amazon market or from the built in Getjar market. That's bad Cause I do like to support the software Developers. I'm hoping that I will be able to get the Google Market up and running at some point. The Tablet has a very nice 7" inch screen. I have not had any issues with it. Sound is ok through its speakers. I also added a 16 gb Microsd since it's only a 4gb storage which most of the system takes up anyway. You start out with about 1.5gb when you take it out of the box. There is alot of storage maintenance to do with limited HD space. I love the Tablet but it is a middle of the Road to Low end Tablet these Days As fast and furious as the Hardware Developers are bringing out new ones. If you want a good Deal at 199.00 and probably a price drop soon This Tablet is an excellent deal and games really well. I have been playing games like Earth and Legend and Star Legends with no trouble at all. This Tablet games really well. Really the big complaint for most users will be the Storage and the poor support from the Manufacturer as they dont seem intent on upgrading the system anytime soon. This Tablet will be if not already obsolete the way these Tablets are hitting the market. Still its a great little deal for this time. If your a gamer you will have some satisfaction for the next year or so. Hopefully beyond that. I love mine and will actually drive it into the ground LOL i'm pretty hard on my stuff like this so we will see how long it can hold up and be durable. So far so good

I have one of these ordered, should be here end of the week. Great specs, not awesome, but great. I got it on the ShopNBC deal with an 8GB Microsd and $38 a month for 5 months. I have seen some Gingerbread custom stuff out there I might take a look at.

I understand that a lot of people have a bad taste in their mouth over the original A7. But for the price, if the kinks are or can be worked out this could be a sweet little pad. I think in the end I will use it to replace the Kyros 1024 I use as a HTPC..
I've picked up one of these, but I may have some bad news or the rumblings of bad news. A distributor in Ontario, Canada picked up 500 of the Elocity A7+ for $50 a piece and I ended up paying $100. The distributor sold all 500 in two weeks, which for 500 people was a great deal, but what interests me is the story behind this. I look at the Elocity website and it seems like activity has sort of halted there, and I wonder if other distributors have received the same sort of product dumping. Anyone know of any rumours?

Ever since the A10 wsn;t released they have been saying Elocity was dead. But they released another firmware update a little over 2 weeks ago after they released the source code. Usually all dev stops after the source is released by a dying business. It's possible, but at least there is ongoing dev in the custom roms.
I would agree with that, but the link on their webpage to their March 7th A7+ Firmware update actually links to their previous update. The Version 3.0022 (126.3 MB) - Mar. 7, 2012 link downloads the 3.0021 firmware which is from Nov 28, 2011. - I emailed their support about it and had no reply. Just a borked link maybe(you can edit the link to download the 3.0022 version) but their support silence is another indicator that all may not be well.

It's a bad link I am running 3.0022. I just changed the link by hand. But it is also the firmware that seems to have a couple issues. After I remove bloat and set all my settings everything including the bloat goes back to the way it was. I am still rooted and everything setup on the user data side still works, but the default.prop reset, usb debugging turns off, and all the bloat comes back. I think I will go back to an older firmware. I made a flashable version of the system image, but have had no luck with the recovery.img.
Did you have the screen sleep problem?, ie, unit becomes unresponsive, unwilling to wake up. That is supposedly fixed in 3.0022 - ah, the joys of Androidness. Solid built unit, too bad no hardware volume switches (which also worries me if firmware load goes wrong) and the port covers do sort of annoy me, especially the headphone and power ports.

No, sleep is perfect. It can on occasion come up and go dark almost instantly, but it has only happened twice out of tons if not hundred of sleeps since I got it.
