The Eken m001 only displays 256 colors. This is by design and not a defect. It is cheap, it dithers well enough for people not to notice (tho its visible in video playback). I assume the m003 is the same.

I bet is not a millions colours, but I don't believe it's 256 colours. I think, it could be Hi-Colour (65K) or maybe 4096 colours like old handhelds. The graphics looks creepy when trying to rotate or when the screen is locked - besides, looks not so bad as cheap device. I still have my old palm-phone, HTC Wallaby with 4096 colours screen. I compared my graphics dithered to 4096 and displayed on EKEN, in my opinion EKEN shows better colours.

Can't say much bout the display itself :/

I compared my graphics dithered to 4096 and displayed on EKEN, in my opinion EKEN shows better colours.[/QUOTE'] You're probably right - I tried to analyze a screenshot, but the jpeg compression makes that a bit impossible - GiMP2 counted around 85k colors in my screenshot, which is WAY more then there are. At 85k colors there is no reason to dither. Interesting, GIMP is able to reduce the colors down to a 256 color pallet with barely any difference. I think the jpeg compression is screwing with these numbers - is there a screen grab util that saves uncompressed?
