Just try to use the CWM on your Vi40, i don't know if it works.

Is there a real difference between VI30 and VI40 ?
It's only the display size and type ?

I you feel like being a beta tester you can try the VI30 comp zip on your VI40.

The comp zip consists of a kernel from christian troy he released in a com zip for cm 10 and the initramfs from his latest comp zip for cm10.1 for aurora II, with some mods to build.props.

Currently I am thinking on using the latest Onda fw v2.0 and build another comp zip.

Hi, firstly, thank you! But I really need to know whether I'll be able to flash back to stock rom if something goes wrong... I've read on some forums that reverting from cyanogen to stock sometimes causes problems.

Yes. To avoid this you can either:

- remove the assert from original fw 2.0

short howto:

- extract fw2.0
- extract the included update.zip
- edit file "META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script" extracted from update.zip
- remove the first lines beginning with "assert"

Or

- modify /system/build.prop of cm 10.1 to use values of original fw 2.0

two ways:
- mod build.prop file from Christian Troys cm10.1 zip
- mod addition file from Onda comp zip ( this file modifies build.prop during installation)

Either way build.prop needs to set the following props:

ro.build.date.utc (must be larger than 1353133085, which should be ok with cm10.1 value)
ro.product.device=g12refM805

thank you for your detailed reply!
regarding the first method, I have tried to mod official fw before and have always failed when flashing via cwm for some reason.. I can't flash in stock recovery because I don't have a pc right now to sign the zip. Whenever I remove the assert scripts in stock firmware then flash with cwm it passes the assert step but later gives "script error: no error message" "status 7" around eighty percent into installation. I've actually been trying to solve this for quite awhile. I'm suspecting whether there's another line in the update script that cwm doesn't like... if you have any knowledge regarding this problem plz let me know :) in the meantime I'll try your second method:)

That's strange. I got the "status 7" error once, because i have extracted the original rar file usin an android app to my sd card which hadn't enough free disk space. So the included zips were corrupt.

has anyone any comments on the Rom? I can't decide whether to flash it due to worrying about compatibility

This rom really good.
Better than vi30D official firmware in many ways

Comp zip really works well.
(Rom -> comp zip -> gapps on cwm recovery)
So don't be anxious.

Thank you hgbutte, christian troy

I've tried the above method with the newest 1/05 rom. Stuck on onda logo won't boot. Any idea what to do?..

Edit: switched another cwm file, worked. Commence testing :)

Is it normal for nova launcher to be slightly shrunk (default launcher was out of screen as op said)and the soft keys to be squished in the middle?
Sorry, not complaining, would just like to know if normal :)
