Hi everyone, I don't have any of the tablet brands/variants listed in this thread. I was gifted with a tablet from a Eken, a Chinese tech company.

It is called Eken GT-70s HD

The specs are as follows:

7-inch IPS display (1024x600)

1.6Ghz

QuadCore-A31 Series

8GB ROM, 1GB RAM

0.3MP Front and Rear Camera

2500 mAH Battery

HDMI-out, USB OTG, etc.

Android 4.2.2 Jellybean

Firmware version: v3.2

Kernel version: 3.3.0 [email protected] #346

Build number: fiber_a31st-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39 20131024 test-keys

May I please request for help or guidance on how I can install the latest TWRP/CWM available for this tablet. Moreover, I wish to upgrade to 4.4.4 kitkat ROM. I am kinda reluctant to just follow the instructions on this thread because I cannot find my tablet among the list of supported. I hope I could seek help from anyone to guide me through. I have cm11 and cm12 on my other devices so I wish this tablet could at least have a decent ROM.

Thanks everyone!

That is wise of you not to follow, although your device has A31 CPU, the rest is pretty much different, for one we have 2G ram. Anyway, I don't think anyone here can help you, A31 is a very old CPU, I don't think anyone is willing to develop rom on that anymore, you have to live with what you've got.

My tablet is having strange things so I wanted to reinstall but I can't seem to get back into twrp. I installed the correct version for my touchscreen but when I try and reboot into recovery from the power options menu it always goes back to just rebooting. Same when trying and use an app to get into the recovery. It does not seem to work. Any ideas?

Hey guys, i have a query. I have a alwinner a31s tablet from audio sonic and its digitizer is broken. Hdmi works but touch doesn't. As the default firmware does not have OTG function, i want to ask you guys if it is possible to flash a firmware via flashtool which will allow me to use this broken tablet with a mouse and an hdmi output ?

I know its a long shot, but any idea are worth appreciation !

Thanks !!

Hi all

I have ONN M8 9.7 tablet with A31 2G/16G 1024x768. I flashed this ROM and it works (not fully) with the Onda 972 v1 compatibility pack.

However I have the following issue: all drivers are OK, the tablet works fine, but when I shut down and restart it's stuck in bootloop. Anything I can check/tweak?

Thanks

You may be able to do it in a Mac PC with Virtualbox but I couldn't do it running XP as a guest under Xubuntu 12.04. If you can, some how, dedicate the usb port just for the Windows guest it might work. If VB won't do it you may find another visualization software that'll let you dedicate the port.

I, also, just found this, with a quick key word search of "livesuit" and "mac". If it works, it would be the simplest solution. Let me know what happens, so I can post the link on my OP. Note: If it works like my Linux version, you'll need to open Livesuit and select the rom before connecting the tablet. Just like Phoenixsuit!
Curt Hello again.

It's been close to a year since we last conversed about my tablet (more like 9 months) and I need your help a bit.

You helped me to recover my tablet when I had issues with it starting with post #1080: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/97866-custom-rom-cyanogenmod-11-442-for-allwinner-a31-by-christiantroy-update-2014-04-19/page-54#entry1252274

You see my little tab just keeps needing a fresh installation every once in a while and It's getting tiresome. After flashing one of the roms I can work on the tablet only to have it get stuck again after a couple of weeks (or sometimes it might last up to 2 months). Then I need to format it again and reinstall everything. At first I thought that using the 3gb rom might cause issues so I used the 2.5 gig rom. No fix there. The tab still gets stuck after a while. Then I thought that maybe it was the greenify app that might cause issues so I stopped installing that too. No change. 2 weeks and the tablet would randomly not wake up from a reboot or if it would run out of battery, it would not reboot anymore. Even if I tried to shut it down and turn it back on, there is a chance that it won't wake up when I try to boot.

Using phoenixSuit I'm able to flash anythin I need and reinstall everything till the next time it will get stuck.

It's frustrating some times as it always gets out of commission when I need it the most! (of course) That makes it totally unreliable.

So it's not the 3gigs rom or the greenify app. I then though that it might be the CM11.

So I loaded the omni mod... Same deal. Stuck after a number of days.

Bad thing with the omni is that it doesn't seem to support a 64gb sd card I have, even though twrp and CM11 seem to support it just fine.

Now the same "get stuck" thing happened to me yesterday and this time I need to recover some info I have inside the tablet. I have a couple of bookmarks and need to get them out. I realised that this time the TWRP works and only booting to system doesn't. It doesn't even display the CM11 blue icon at boot time. Is there a way to save my bookmarks before flashing? Furthermore, is there a way to make the tablet booting again without flashing?

I can use the twrp to browse all files in the tablet which makes me think that all stuff are there.

I appreciate your help in advance

What version of my EZRom are you installing? Please send me the file name. An older version could be a problem.

Also, you should try my Allwinner 4.2.2 rom I built, it's not perfect but it should help to find out if it has something to do with 4.4. Remember, Omni and CM11 are both KK so they have a lot in common.

This is the Allwinner 4.2.2 userdebug version. And you could try this stock Spark 4.2.2 rom just to see if it helps. Both need to be installed from TWRP just like CM or Omni.

But first let me know what EZRom file you're using.

Thank you for the reply.

I used both the spark_bootloader_TWRP_3gdata_750sys_3.1.1.img and spark_bootloader_TWRP_2.5gdata_750sys_3.1.1.img.

Also is there a way to maybe fix the issue instead of reformating since I can boot to twrp at the moment? As I said, I can see all the partitions and folders which means that just a small part of the boot information is broken. If I cound maybe fix that... ???

Well, those are the most recent Spark EZRoms so they're the right ones.

Try making a backup of boot, system, data within the TWRP backup section then and copy the android folder from sdcard0 to your computer. You may want to copy anything else in sdcard0 that looks like it's needed. Make sure you store the backup on /sdcard in TWRP, not /emmc!

Once this is done use Phoenixsuit to flash your present EZRom again. Try using update first, to see if it fixes the problem. If that doesn't do it then try flashing without formatting. If it won't boot to Android then restore boot, system and data in TWRP then copy the files/folders from your computer back to /sdcard. Make sure you copy these files before you boot into Android or you'll loose some big apps and app settings.

What I think may be happening, is you have some failing sectors in your flash memory in the boot or MRB area. That would explain why it fails later and seams to be getting worse. But that's just a guess!

I did have problems with CM11 and Omni where it got slower and slower so I just used CM 10.2 but I think my newer 4.2.2 is more stable. That's why I recommend you try it. And if you still have the same problem I'd say it's a hardware issue, flash memory being the most likely cause.

There is one very risky option. Use the terminal in TWRP to over write just the MRB using dd. I could send you the MRB file but there doesn't seam to be raw block /dev device for all the flash memory dd would need to write to. So it's probably not possible.

You did ask about bookmarks. If you're using Chrome then it in /data/data/com.android.chrome/app_chrome/Default.
