I just received my u39gt and after 2 hours its screen started flashing and after a while the screen goes black.
On restart same happens and I cannot unlock the main screen.

Looks much like completely discharged battery being not calibrated. Leave the tablet charging for several hours.

Just an update, I'm working on an hybrid rom based on iFive X2 and U39GT(v1.04)

The beta v1.05 release for U39GT is way too unstable hence I am reverting back to 1.04

Interesting news. Why ifive and not the pipo m7?
Among the 3 FHD 8.9" tablets in existence, iFive seems to have the most amount of manufacturer support and activity. That is why I chose it over the m7.

I'm testing out a beta build of the hybrid rom right now and I am really impressed by it. Way smoother than my first release. 0

Once I have finalized some stuff it will be released.

There will however be no multiwindow though (but there will be some other value added stuff from iFive)

GPU performance seems marginally better. (i'm convinced the 1.05 beta release is rubbish now), could you download nenamark 2 and tell me what FPS you are getting?

56.3 fps.
And that would be on the 1.05 beta release?

Overall I must say that the U39GT is rather unpolished, the battery life is less than ideal, the battery drain inconsistent, missing speaker

EDIT: I've also move the speaker from the bottom to the top. No more blocking of the speakers then holding tablet to play games.

On your tempest ROM. I presume it is based on 1.05 beta anyway. By the way, could you please post a disassembly instructions, a few pictures would be great?

Hello :)

I have just ordered this one (Cube U39GT) on dealsprime. I've read good reviews but many seem to complain about the short wifi detection range. Can anybody confirm this? Is it that big of a deal?

Thanks.

Hi all,

I've juste ordered a U39GT from hongkongeek.

As usual this seller is quick and serious.

I really like this tablet: beautiful and solid. For my part, i didn't encounter any problem with wifi.

And i even like the launcher from Cube.

I hope they'll release a kitkat firmware soon

I've got it now and I can confirm that the Wifi detection range is poor. At home it won't connect unless I'm standing a few meters from the modem (while my Sony Xperia L can connect even outside the house).

However, I'm at Uni most of the time and they've got a pretty powerful Wifi so I have no problems there.

Regarding the firmware update, they say they're going to release kitkat soon on their website:
