In another thread there was talk about Clockworkmod recovery to make it easier to install updates. I think if we want this to work it needs its own thread. I made the suggestion of running it from SD instead of trying to repartition the nand. I still stand by this idea. Another idea is hijacking the boot process. This is how koush was able to get the droid x working with recovery. When I tried booting clockwork from sd it comes up but only one key works and that was volume down. I could go down the menu but not enter anything. Useless but a start.

When you say software did you mean source to clockworkmod or from wits. I would kill for the u-boot and kernel source/patches from wits.

I wasn't thinking too long after reading this:Quote:Load custom ROM or make your own custom ROM, we strongly encourage developers to play and modify the android OS. (And so i have one question. Is there somewhere... or do you plan to release source code for MIDnite? Or just vendor tree? So one can build Android and deploy it).raz (I will be getting WIT to give us what is needed for people to have their way with developing on this. I am looking to also get their help so that people can load up linux on this too.) so let raz no what u need see if he can get it for u

How I did it.Downloaded the clockworkmod rom for droid. Partition sdcard into 2. One fat and one ext2. Placed mlo, uImage, and mmcuboot.bin(renamed to mmcflash.bin). Place those on the fat partition. Place unpacked clockwork on ext2. Boot while holding volume button. This is from memory so I might be missing something and I don't know how it would work with Novel.

Took my idea of starting recovery from SD one step further. Instead of loading the recovery from a second partition why not make a ramdisk and run everything from ram. So that is what I did. concept_recovery.zip. Copy everything to a memory card like you would do an upgrade. This is very useless. Only volume down works, and partitions don't mount. I wish I had an android phone to see how the recovery process works or could find clockworkmod sources. The other idea I had is run a small linux distro and just make a script that would make changes to existing roms.
