My ZT-180 identifies itself as p7901a to various software apps.Is there a good way to patch this string to say something else? The reason being that some software (e.g. the Pandora streaming music app) refuses to run except on some devices that it has whitelisted. Is the Linux kernel checksummed? If not I might simply try to use a hex editor on it.Remains the question what device names the most commonly used Android phones use.Christian

Apparently the device name is contained in the file /system/build.props, with root privileges one can edit them.I just don't know if this affects the functionality of the Android Market (after an account has been created on the phone), and in particular if paid apps are continuing to work when changing.
