My eken crashed and burned litterally. It was charging when i heard a pop and smelled a foul smell. The inside back cover of the unit has scorch marks. I disconected the battery since i dont want my house to burn down. So much for that, hope ebay can help me get my money back.

I was really starting to like and praise the device. Now im afraid to try any other chinese no name brand devices that arent run through any sort of regulatory testing likeUL ( Underwriters Lab) or any other testing agency. Shoddy electroncs can burn down a home or cause injury.

Were you using the original charger?Lipo batterys have been known to explode if not charged properly. If one of the cells has a lower voltage then the other one that one cause. The Eken probably has a built in balancing circuit. I have been using Lipo batterys in RC planes for many years. If charged properly they are safe. On my RC battery packs I use a balance charger that charges each cell seperately.

Upon taking the unit apart it appears some components of the backlight power supply went up in smoke, odd considering the unit was powered down when charging. I was using a 9 volt power supply capable of 1500mAh which was exact same specs as the original charger that came defective with the unit.
