I'd given some info on Orb previously in http://slatedroid.blitzwerks.co.uk/index.php?topic=81.msg1032#msg1032.That one was streaming a 720x288 divx 777kbps mpeg audio 128kbps (I know it's oddly formatted, I got it that way...).Just went back and tried a 640x368 xvid stream and it was just as blocky but less stutter. Neither were specially encoded to try to optimize for this screen. I'll try re-ripping and re-encoding with a smaller size and lower bitrate and report back. Nothing special on the orb server, default settings that worked ok with streaming to a laptop and ip*d touch.UPDATE: encoded using xilisoft using the archos5 avi output which used 480x272. stuck it in orb and streamed to the m001. http://rapidshare.com/files/390828781/sample_orb.MOV.html sorry, it sez only 10 dl's on the link but it'll give an idea of what it looks like and smoothness.

Random question: Has anyone tried an mjpeg in an AVI container? The WM8585 has an mjpeg decoder build in. My M001 is still somewhere on an UPS plane.

I guess our definitions of acceptable video playback are vastly different. To me, the quality on the videos that do play are crap (I'd rather not watch at all, than watch it at that level).I got my Archos 7 Home Tablet today, and the video playback on it is night and day better. Seriously,if you are looking for a video playback device, the Archos 7 HT is worth the small premium over the Eken (and has a longer battery life to boot, with at least 6hrs of battery life with video playing and wifi on). The Eken has other things going for it, and is a more open platform. But video isn't, and won't ever be, one of its strengths.

Picking up an old thread. What kind of format/codec is ORB and could you post some details of what you did?
