So I just recieved my apad. It's legit and everything, I go to plug it in and nothing. No charge.I hopped online and spoke with the people I purchased it from and they want me to buy a new one at a local shop and they will send me the money for it whatever it comes out to. I'm willing to give this a try as it will be faster to using my device than waiting for a new one from themAnyone know a good place close by that would sell this? or an online seller that could get it to me quickly?

Thanks for the info!!!! Looks like there are a lot of these available on eBay. I did a quick search for Audiovox 8915 and there are a bunch there. I picked up a car charger for $2.50.
You can buy tip adaptors, so if you find a decent charger with the wrong size tip check eBay for an adaptor that will fit it.
Hey guys! my charger just broke too but i fixed it with some sordering... but it wont hold in the long run..... so i bought http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Charger-Cable-2-5mm-Power-Jack-PDA-Cell-Phone-/270593214494?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Camera_Cables_Cords&hash=item3f009cc81e This cable and i got a usb to wall charger as i think all gadget owners do! i messures the diameter and it will fit and i know that usb runs on 5 V ,,,, hope i could help

If so how well does it charge...the USB port shouldn't provide enough amps to charge it while using it though. This would work great in my truck as I modded USB plugs into the dash to charge my phone, GPS, and iPod.

Thanks. If it fits and works as described I will be picking up a couple
Remember guys that it's not just the voltage that has to be right the power output has to be too. 5v and at least 2000mA (2A) a 500mA charger probably won't be able to fully charge the apad or may overheat. My connector broke like many others, I got a 3000mA one off eBay and replaced the connectors on both with some from Maplins (circuit city? in the USA) the 3000mA charger does a much better job of charging than the supplied 2000mA one.
Steep, does it charge quicker? The usb issue shouldn't be a problem, IF the port has a constant power draw. I've had a similar issue before and the laptop (on battery) charged my device, albeit slowly! That said, in most situations its only a short term fix for a quick power boost when needed. It shouldn't be seen as a main fix as it could reduce the life of the battery by undercharging.
The 3000mA charger is definitely faster yes.
i got a question for the more technical guys here.... if i charged it through a usb to wall charger.... would i be able to get more mA ?
You will only get what the charger can provide, look at the base of the charger for the rating, e.g. if it says 500mA then 500mA is all you will get out of it, that might be enough to charge an apad but it will take a long time to do it. If you decide to try it keep an eye on the charger to be sure it is not overheating.
I'm using my kindle 1 charger and it is a much better build quality than the one it came with which broke quickly
bigness if you get a chance, can you work out how long it takes to charge the unit from a low state? just for reference.
Sure - left it at the office this weekend :-( so check in next week
About mA: A device usually has a mA rating, for example, let's say our device needs 1000mA. Then it's rating will be 1000mA, and it will never draw more amps from a charger than 1000.Power supplies are rated at what they can put out safely. More amps, means it will heat up and short out some components (in a classic power supply, usually the copper windings heat up, the coating melts, and the wires short together, and burn out.)Anyway, i'm trying to say that bigger amps charger is not 'better', since it's rated higher. Lower amps is always worse. USB chargers are limited though, your USB port usually will not put out more than 500mA. Some are rated higher (usb hub, 4 ports, = 2A)
One problem we have is that with all this kit being generic Chinese we don't know how accurate the stated ratings on batteries and chargers are. A known good quality charger rated at 3000mA will have less difficulty charging the battery and powering the apad than a known good quality charger rated at 500mA simply because the extra power is there for the unit to draw as needed. My concern with usb charging is that at 500mA rating you could end up burning out the usb port, maybe not a big deal if it's a car or mains charger but having to replace a motherboard could be a pita.
Does anybody know the exact size of the plug ? the 2mm Nokia seems to small and the 2,5mm to big.so ma by it is 2,35x0,75mm.http://muco-elektronica.com/show_product.php?self=index.php&products_id=4241761&lang_id=1&lc=
