Picked this up via Archos 32 8GB Generation 8 device leaked -Netbook ReviewsJR.com has specs of an unannounced Archos Android PMP here,Archos 32 8GB 3.2" Touch Screen Multimedia Player in MP3 Players at JR.comSalient features: 3.2" 400x240 display, 8GB, Cortex A8 800MHz, Android 2.1, WiFi, USB, camera, (no uSD or GPS mentioned) $150Ed: This falls into the neither-fish-nor-fowl category. As a MP3 player, it is expensive. The Sony E345 has 16GB built-in, same-size screen, and is $75. As a video player, the built-in 8GB is paltry (no mention of uSD slot), no HDMI-out. H.264 video is limited to L3.1, meaning desktop MKVs will need to be downsampled. The WiFi is nice, but will eat into battery life for that small a form factor. To sum, not a great PMP.But it has Android, which means web browsing and apps. Unless you're a masochist, the res is too small for web browsing. Even the iPod Touch is larger at 480x320. At $150, the Archos 32 is the same as the Touch 8GB's street price, and the Touch isn't selling that particularly well. If people aren't buying the Touch with a much better brand name, larger resolution, and much larger apps store, why would anyone want to buy this Archos PMP?So questions to SD'ers at large: Is this in your shopping list, and what would you use it for? What price would you buy this at?
