I finally got around to doing the antenna mod provided in howie372's post. Also linked here http:// tadlewis.com /... ader/
index.html . Since these readers seem to have a problem holding on to wifi I decided this would be a good way to spend $8. This mod worked great. Using wifi-fixer to test signal strength I noticed that signal reception is 50% better. I get wifi signals from about 1200 ft down the street. Since doing mod I have not lost wifi signal once. This has made this little reader even more functional.

What version of wifi fixer you using, I did the antenna mod and I used the black cable out of the two cables I ordered from Amazon. Do both cables have the same wireless functionality?

color of the insulation does not matter the wire is copper and will work with either color insulation i took a pair of nail clippers to the wire bundle and separated the 2 and saved the other antenna for some future date.
