Hello everyone, just wanted to let you know that we (junk0, LincKraker, and me [HTC6800 on XDA]) have a WORKING Market. Tested this method on 3 tablets and all working and still working after rebooting! Please visit our wiki for instructions:http://augendev.wikispaces.com/Market+FixIf you have any issues, I would encourage you to post them in a discussion I created on our wiki. We should get back to you pretty quickly.http://augendev.wikispaces.com/message/view/Market+Fix/25942847Enjoy!EDIT: You're welcome to post here, but it might not get checked as often as the wiki.

Make sure you throw a thank you out to clockworx for doing most of the work for you.
Let's make sure we give credit where credit is due. Can you please post what he did? We did our work in the IRC and I don't believe we used anything from here, but I want to make sure. Please let me know. Thanks.

are you multiposting this to push your site (I just made basically the same comment as wolf elsewhere)? If so, that's against the rules...

blazingwolf;28224][URL]http://www.slatedroid.com/showthread.php/3347-Ugly-hack-to-working-market[/URL]The market app was included in his hack to get all of the google apps working. That was posted some time ago and is a sticky in the Novel forums. <img src= said:

No, I'm not. I posted a thread on the Market working here on SD and than a link to the thread I created in a thread about the Market not working. I did this so there can be discussion on SD if this is working or not since some people might not want to use the wiki.

Can anyone confirm this actually works?
Of course it works or we wouldn't have posted it :)The instructions are a little long but it will work. You won't be able to download apps over 5mb right now because the /cache partition is too small and that's where the Market downloads go as they're downloading. This should be fixed when Augen issues their update because we will have their tools to fix the /cache problem.

I did this process and it was workign great with the 1.6 market, but the wife wanted pandora so i started the search to get a working 2.0 or later market working without a phone to pull the android id off of.i was successful. Here is what i didfollowed the steps in the wiki except where you create the emulator i choose 2.0 or api 5instead of using the system image i used this one Shanghai Android Laboratory:the command for pulling android id didn't work from wiki (don't know if it's an android version issue) so i used thsi one instead
Code:
adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.googleapps/databases/gls.db "select * from meta";
and followed the wiki the rest of the way out.My wife is listening to pandora now and as happy as she can be.

Going to take the plunge tomorrow. Some question for you titans amongst android users. Most of them are probably pretty stupid. I am going by the http://augendev.wikispaces.com/Market+FixCan I assume that there is still no fix for the /cache problem?It mentions how to fix the problem after a reboot if you are rooted but it doesn't seem to mention how to do it if I'm not rooted.If I am one of the unlucky few who must alter my androidID in order to get market access, are there any possible negative side effects?Am I right in assuming that the vast majority of apps aren't over 5mbs? Most of my experiences with raw apks were 3/4 mbs at max. The instructions include setting up a google account. If I've already setup an account on my device, will there be any problems?PS: I love you.

Nevermind. Decided to just do it. Worked for a little bit. Then it stopped working. Downloads get a little bit farther than they used to but they don't go through no matter the file size. Any ideas?
I had the same problem so I used the commands for finding the id from the emulator on my gentouch and found the first time I changed it it had my old ID. After doing the command again it it changed. Then I did a restart. It still was not downloading. After checking the cache directory was not mounted correctly (there were no files being created by the market) I re did the commands to create a dir and mounted it. Then I restarted the gentouch and it worked perfectly!So it does work. Just re check everything and make sure you restart the unit. Good Luck!

I had to add back, gtalkservice.apk before mine worked again...have everything working that's been done so far, just need to make one last nandroid backup of my current state, but that's probably as much time as I'll spend on it today[EDIT]I actually used burr's method for higher API level market access as well... kind of hacky, but since 2.0 no longer appears available in the platform support of the official tools...[/EDIT]

So which phone services can we remove and still keep the market working?
not going to mess around with any more today as far as market goes, but I ended up putting back TelephonyProvider.apk as well, but that can probably be safely removed again as I was still getting the gapps error when I added it back... the gservices one is the one that stopped that on reboot for me, and I had already omitted deletion of the talk provider...going to look at youtube now, as it currently starts then quits... quick search of a couple forums, then I guess the logs...

What is required for Market:/system/app/Vending.apk/system/app/GoogleApps.apk/system/app/GoogleCheckin.apk/system/app/SetupWizard.apk/system/app/TalkProvider.apk/system/app/gtalkservice.apk/system/etc/permissions/com.google.android.datamessaging.xml/system/etc/permissions/com.google.android.gtalkservice.xml/system/framework/com.google.android.datamessaging.jar (often absent, seems works without it)/system/framework/com.google.android.gtalkservice.jar/system/lib/libgtalk_jni.so
