I have had my GenTouch for about a week now, and I can not connect to my home WiFi router at all unless I am in a direct line-of-sight with it, or sometimes in the same room. Even then, I almost never get a full signal, literally 5 ft. away from the router.I've even taken the GenTouch out with me to places where I know there is WiFi and it doesn't even see the connections. I've also tried using my phone as a mobile hotspot (later finding out that it wouldn't work anyway).I haven't seen anyone else mention poor WiFi performance in everything I've read, so it has made me believe that it may just be my unit. My local K-Mart only had this one, so it isn't like I can exchange for another unit to test this.

Wifi seems to be working for me. I see 3 bars within about 12 ft, 2 bars sitting about 30 feet away in the next room.My neighbors network show up as options when I am in the front of the house (nice to see they all have them secured)I have used the Wifi sitting outside the local library and McDonalds (50-100 feet).Might want to try the app Wifi Analyzer - nice graph of the dB of any networks and which channels they are on.My only wifi complaint is if the unit been asleep - sometimes I have to go into setting and turn wifi off and back on before it will really scan for networks. Might want to try that if it does not seem to be seeing networks. Most of the time for me, it does find the network automatically when it wakes.Good luck

My WiFi here is strong already. GT78 is giving me full bars. There was one area in the Family Room lower level (basement) where the signal was almost dead. I've fixed that with primary APNs active. Try WiFi Buddy app to keep eye on your wireless. MySettings app also has more control.

Yep, I can go about 100' or so outside and still get 1-2bars (not great, but goos enough) and get at least 3 bars in most of the house if not 4... and I've got several other WiFi networks in the area... (always 1 other up with another 4-5 that pop up and down)(and I have a crappy dlink DIR-615 router...)

OK, it clearly seems to be my unit then. I've turned WiFi on and off numerous times and it does no good.I know it's not my router since I have a laptop, desktop, and 3 phones that can access the network (and neighbors' wifi) with no problems all around the house.

I decided to make to 70 mile roundtrip to the next closest Kmart (mine is 5 minutes away) to get a replacement. The guy actually brought out 6 of them! Besides almost letting them have my 8GB micro SDHC (luckily he was checking out my return), everything went fine there. When I started my new GenTouch up at home and went to WiFi settings, my network and my neighbor's popped up immediately, and I'm in the basement! Working WiFi makes a world of difference in my expereince with this tablet. Now to get that custom update back.
