I wanted an FTP client to transfer files locally between the family computers and my Eken M001. I was a little tired of plugging and unplugging USB cables, and wanted to get wireless transfer going through ftp.One client I tried was AndFTP. Unfortunately I found it clumsy to set up on the Eken, and for some reason it couldn't resolve my laptop running Linux a few feet away, either with a hostname or the numeric IP.Adding a host entry in this program is painful -- the keyboard becomes extremely slow for some reason (on the m001 at least) and the interface isn't consistent. You are asked for an entry name only once in a pop-up after filling in the host information. Why isn't that in the list of entry parameters? Also you have to jump through all of the host parameter entries if the keyboard is opened up before finishing, even if you only want to edit one of them.I'm used to running the client Gftp in Linux, and it is easy to run, by comparison, with a split screen and a top line for host entries.Because of this, I wondered if I could put an ftp server on the Eken, and just use the Gftp client on the other machines to transfer files. Generally I'm connecting between my laptop and the Eken, and it's common and handy to have both open in front of me. So since the client can transfer files both ways, might as well use Gftp on the laptop to initiate ftp transfers in either direction.Looking for an ftp server for the Eken turned up Swiftp. This program, unlike AndFTP was quite fast and easy to set up. I recommend this one. Connections between laptop and Eken were easy using the wireless router, and Gftp worked nicely as it always does.I'm still going to look for a better ftp client for the M001, but the Swiftp server is the preferred method of transfer now for me.
