I am having the same difficulty. You know what's sad? My YouTube actually worked the very first time that I flashed my M003 from 1.7.2 to 1.7.4. It wasn't the greatest, but it was full screen, and it worked. Should have left well enough alone, but I had to try Darexius, Slatedroid, WinCE, Ecotox, had to mess with stuff to get Market working, flash, re-flash - rinse and repeat. These days, the best I can do is get audio, and the first 2x frames of any video using the .apk that is found here in the downloads section. Doesn't matter what firmware is installed. The stock app is, of course, 100% useless. Question for those who may know: When you flash new firmware onto your Eken, there are a few prompts that echo "erasing NAND flash", "erasing user space", etc. When you perform a flash, does it wipe the whole system before copying the new firmware, or is there something left behind? After multiple flashes, it seems like I have less available RAM while idle, and no extra apps running. When I first got it, I was seeing free RAM of around 41MB, now it's averaging around 36 MB. Could this be why the YouTube app may have worked before, but not now? Probably barking up the wrong tree here. Just trying to think this one through.

I'm running the Sladedroid for M003 and low-res youtube apk works. Its in the forum, the download. We sure do have a huge fascination with Youtube. I get better quality running converted movies from my PSP and Ipod. Don't waste time with Orb Live, crap quality. SBC TV is pretty good looking. Read that H263 codec with 3gp container can handle 1000bit/sec without good results. I'm running linux and its not on par with windows for video transcoding simplicity. Super converter for windows is awesome, Handbrake also, but latest Ubuntu broke Handbrake so its only good for windows. I think strength of M003 is screen size for surfing, reading, Pandora works in standby and last over 3 hours, but video playback seems to be the deal breaker. Any 800x600 large screen tablets that have to cpu/video juice to handle video playback, but under $150? SmartQ R8 can but at $300.

You guys are asking the simple questions that I asked just days ago.Step 1 : The M003 works like this You 1st download the ROM unZIP then pull the Script folder on to the BLANK miniSDcard (erase the entire SDcard for just to install the ROM). Step 2: Download and pull the Youtube APK then install with the APK manager or PK manager install Youtube will play in low resolution at all time. if you plug a usb mouse you can switch to Normal Quality. My Point is Youtube will play whenever/wherever WIFI is and of course all internet access to the Web which is a good thing.Step 3:Handbrake is the best way to put any movie etc on the thing. I recomend a 2GB MiniSDcard Settings for Handbrake Codec MP4, 23.976 frame, 576 kbps, Audio DRC to 4 (0.0)Please Note: These handbrake settings don't work for every movie or tv show. I recommend selecting MP4, frame rate "same as", bitrate 1500, Quality 30,40,50%, and 60% is pushing it. Pic setting 480x320 so u don't have to do this again for your iphone or droid.

Sorry for the double post. IMHO the M003 is the best looking of all these Android tablets. Its got the ipad look which is worth the purchase. It needs a faster processor then again the price would not be the same. The ROMs that some of the members have have already been tweaked to a level that u don't really need to fiddle with. Most of the ROMs are optimized for longer battery life. Now, I installed the Ecotox v1.0 thats for the M001 that needs no Youtube APK installed. Ecotox made a version for the m003 but u still need to add the APK Youtube download. My advice on the miniSDcard is to erase the thing everytime u install whatever cleanly.
youtube-low.apk installed? What rom? Quality for youtube videos is crappy at best, Eken M001 and M003 really don't have the hardware to push quality Youtube videos. I've read a few post on settings to use with Handbrake for converting your own videos to play on this tablet. I can watch full screen, good quality videos, just have to convert them first.
Hi i3G. I am only a newbie to the M003 and tried to install my low resolution Youtube but it won't let me uninstall the old version, which came with the Darexius firmware. I go to Apk manager and cannot see my Youtube application. Then I put the the youtube low resolution program on SD card that i downloaded from these threads, go back to Apk Manager and I can see Youtube 1.3 program I press Youtube and it comes with a message, "This is a system application. Do you still want to replace it. All previous user data will be saved." I press OK then it says "Do you want to install this application. Allow this application to ........ then I press install and the message is "Application could not be installed on this phone".Any ideas of how to uninstall the Youtube that came with the Darexius firmware?
