HOW TO INSTALL

STANDARD DISCLAIMER:
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. By running this process, you agree that there is the possibility that you may brick your device. You agree that only you are responsible and no one else is responsible for supporting you if that occurs. BUT, we will try and help you get out of trouble, but you have to let us know. ;-) Please note that this process WILL DELETE ALL OF THE CURRENT DATA on your gTablet. Be sure to have a reliable Titanium Backup copied to another media.

UPDATED NVFLASH: http://www.teamdrh.c...VFLASH_2013.zip

Windows Users Only.

  • Make sure your BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED. Push and hold Power button and Volume- (down) keys at same time. The screen should go blank and you will hear an audible connection sound on PC if successful. XP Users - Go to your Control Panel, double-click System, click Hardware tab, and then Device Manager. Windows 7 Users - Go to your Control Panel, click System, select Device Manager link on left window panel. Under USB devices you should see the Nvidia device in the list registered without yellow exclamation mark.
  • Open the folder created from the zip extraction and find the file 'NVFlash_gTablet.bat' and double-click. A command window will open. Watch the new command window to follow the NVFlash process. You should see partitions being created and partition images installing. If everything completes as designed, the tablet will restart on its own and auto-boot into recovery.
  • The first thing you will see in the new recovery is 5 errors. Ignore them for now; they are because the cache partition has not been created yet. Scroll down to "advanced" and swipe right (to select). Scroll down to "partition internal storage" and swipe right 3 times. This will set up the NEEDED partition structure for the G-Tablet.
  • This next part can be done two separate ways:
The first way is via the external sd-card. Make sure your external sd-card is inserted in tablet and then go to "mounts and storage" / "mount usb storage." Take the ROM from "Extract_TeamDRH-DirtyBean-10.1/ROM" and copy that .zip file to the mounted drive. Eject the mounted drive on your computer and back out to the main menu. From there "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from external sdcard." Browse to the location of the rom and launch the install. You will then be directed through a nice GUI to install the ROM.

The second way is via adb sideload (for those that don't have external sd-card). To install, ADB drivers must be installed first. If on Windows 8 follow this thread to reboot with driver signatures disabled. http://tinyurl.com/b2ukmwu If you are on 7 or lower you can enter control panel and right click on Malata/Unknown Device and browse for driver. Select the android_winusb.inf file located in "NEW_NVFLASH/WINDOWS_DRIVERS/ADB." Once the driver is installed it will be available even through rebooting. After the driver is installed in recovery select "install zip from sideload" and wait about 20 seconds before running the "run_me.bat" file. If all goes well you will see the command prompt box "pushing" the rom to the tablet. If the command prompt box goes away very quickly long press power on your tablet to turn it off and boot back into recovery again. Then reselect "install zip from sideload" and attempt it again. When the rom finishes pushing to your tablet it will auto-launch the installer.
  • After the ROM is installed power off the tablet and go through the initial first boot. It normally takes around 5min for the first boot and about 30 seconds each boot after-the-fact. Remember as always a bake in period always helps as the tablet is still setting itself up and installing apps. Enjoy!

Linux Users Only.

If a script is giving you "access denied" make sure you give it "execute" permissions. You should use the sudo (root) command with the scripts to make sure everything goes correctly.

  • Make sure your BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED. Push and hold Power button and Volume- (down) keys at same time. The screen should go blank.
  • Open the folder created from the zip extraction and find the file 'nvflash_gTablet.sh' and double-click. A command window will open and click run in terminal. When prompted for sudo password enter it.

OLD ROM<-- Older release #1 Includes adb/sideload files the new rom does not!

Final Thoughts:
This build has been tested and running on some "unbootable" tablets. This is not a guarantee this ROM will work on your tablet. I said it before, but if you're not comfortable on using the DRH in the case of a hard lock up, don't flash this amazing ROM. Also this ROM is still going through the testing phase so there is most likely to be bugs.

ADDITIONAL SETUP INFO:

- ****CAMERA INFO***** we are hoping a good number of people will have a working camera. But if you try and it dont work, you MUST, I repeat, MUST shut it down without letting it sleep, or it will SOD!! some of you will get lucky and have cam, and some of you (me included) will not.
We have also found that while some third party camera apps work, the stock camera app does not.

- Once we get through the first round of install bugs, I will put up a guide for building from scratch. In the meantime, for those of you advanced users, all the source can be found at:

https://github.com/r...ab=repositories

- If you run a no Gapps install, it will reboot into recovery the first time. Simply power down and back up, and rom will boot then. We will work on fixing this.

- The newest 4.2.2 android has a built in swype keyboard. this does not currently function with Tegra 2 devices so we had to leave it out of gapps. Hopefully this will eventually work.

- CM now has a nice file manager. in order to access your microsd, youll need to set root access tho. to do this, open cm file manager, click the settings button in the top right corner, then where it says "access mode" switch from safe mode to root access. A superuser prompt will appear, just hit yes. Now, microsd will be under storage/sdcard1.

- To use the new (familiar with Paranoid Android?) expanded desktop function, you must turn it on in settings. To do this, go into settins>system>power menu. then hit the "expanded desktop" label, and choose to include the status bar or not. Now to activate, hit the power button and click expanded desktop. This feature allows fullscreen gaming, which is nice, but it is required for nba jam and other games to even function. ALso, you may find it neccessary to change your screen dpi to 140 in order for some gameloft games to function, in addition to activating expanded desktop. If you have a game or app that will not work, please dont be afraid to post a question on the thread about it and we will try to help you. Please note, that some gameloft games, while older versions work just fine, some newer ones wont. I am lookin into that.

- In order to access the developer options as well as OC settings, you must go into settings>about tablet> and tap the "Build Number" label 7 times

- we have repaired the reboot into recovery option, but it must be turned on in settings>developer options>Advanced reboot.

I will try to add other helpful tips to this thread as i think of them.

For those of you that want to go back to an old rom you MUST install an older version of CWMR and partition your internal sdcard back to the way we used to do it (2 GB /data 0 GB swap). The way we switched things in this rom make it impossible to run the "new layout" on an old rom.

SWEET, We didnt screw the pooch on install instructions!

First bug: installing without gapps doesnt work. You can delete the ones you dont want from the "main" folder of the rom zip for now.

UPDATE: on a no gapps install it will reboot into recovery the first time. Just turn off and boot again, and you will be fine, we are workin on this bug right now.

Have tried a couple times to install from external_sd, but getting "Installation aborted.". Checked the MD5 hash and it matches. Downloading the latest Android SDK. Will try sideloading.

Did you extract the rom from the zip? There is a zip in a zip. Its a bit confusing, but it should work. :) The rom name is TeamDRH-DirtyBean-10.1. That is extracted from the ROM folder in Extract_TeamDRH-DirtyBean-10.1.zip.

Hope this helps.

Installed fine after fighting my new work PC to get the ADX driver to install under Windows 7. Fortunately I won. Letting it bake now. Will play with in the morning.

i'm stuck. got through the nvflash and partitioning in recovery no problems. figured out the adb drivers in win8, they 'appear' to have installed correctly.

mount /external_sd fails:
Error mounting /external_sd! so unable to install directly.
mount USB storage does absolutely nothing, no errors returned, no connectivity to PC established.

Am I just missing something obvious?

Addendum:
Identical behavior when connected to Win7 laptop.
