Planning to order after CNY holiday.

I have been reading about some of the tablets and all seems to have their share of problems. For eg, Ainol have bad Wifi reception, Onda have bad battery and so on.

Please give opinion, especially those who have tested a few models, which is the best A31 device currently in market.

Ainol Novo9 Spark (retina display)
Onda A972 (retina display)
Chuwi V99 (retina display)
Flytouch FT10 (non retina display)
Aoson A31?

Which is best now? Or which did you buy and why?

Another A31-based tablet you might want to consider is the Nextway F9X (retina display). Very good pricing, too ($210~220).

I been doing my research too and it is a really hard decision.

The retina displays are nice but im hearing battery isnt good and from the youtube videos they seem laggier then the ips displays.
I like the nextway f9x but it would be nice to have, bluetooth (which none of the a31's have), a better front camera, most of all HDMI. for for ME this wont work.

Right now im looking at the flytouch f10 the chuwi v10 leaning toward the chuwi because of the HUGE battery and its cheaper.

They are almost identical IMHO

Since F9x have HDMI, really only reason not to get is the community support and front camera. I have never bothered with cameras in these china tablets cause they never are any good. Only problem I am worried now is community support. Nextway is not a known brand. Onda or Ainol is more famous. Even with lousy initial release, due to community support they can improve the product becoming excellent. Best example is Ainol Fire. The initial release have lots of issues. But after I put in CWM 10.1, a rom from community enthusiast it become totally awesome product. From a "no buy" to a "definite buy".

My 2 Cents on Retina displays at the moment: http://www.topnotcht...768&iframe=true

The processors currently out (in China tabs) just can't quite push that many pixels :(.

The nextway f9x with retina it work fine no lag and boot fast I still think the rk3188 will be the most prepare CPU for higher resolution and will be a must have when they release an 9.7

I'm surprised that nextway hasn't gotten their own folder in the sub forum. I got a nextway "processing", it should be on its way soon. onda and novo9 are way too expensive for what it is. Since these A31 are so similar in everything, nextway is the one that is the best bang for the buck.

FYI...I have checked with my china suppliers.

Officially nextway f9x and ainol spark is NOT OUT YET. Those floating in the market right now are pre-production units. Hence you see the wifi problem existing in Ainol Spark. Nextway confirm their official launch of F9x is next week. No news for official launch of Ainol Spark. They said Jan 20-22 but delayed again.

I see some nextway 9 users here. Has anyone heard something about the nextway f10x? If i had to choose id buy that, but like abubin, the lack of community support is kinda disquieting.

hello
I am also interested in understanding what is the best tablet A31 retina
I noticed that all of these tablets are a bit laggy and not always fluid, but some ROMs have solved many problems in this
So I ask you, which of these tablet a31 retina were improved more with the ROM?
thanks

PS: why of this subforum dedicated to tablet A31 lacking opinions on ployer momo 19 HD??
Ployer on 20 momo has done a good job of optimizing, maybe he can be successful in the optimization of these quad core tablet retina

Onda V812, 8 inch, 1024 x 768. This tablet is fast, smooth, and requires no tweaking. Stock runs extremely well, but other roms do also. Most any rom for the v972 will run without problems simply by changing the /system/build.prop lcd setting to 160.

IMO, the lag on the retina display tablets is due to the graphics load caused by the high density display. Once you drop down to the 1024 x 768, that disappears and this quad core chip performs like it should. I think all retina display A31 quad core tablets have the same lag and performance issues for that reason. Even the RK3188 chip tablets just now coming out have the same complaints. Firmware for the A31 chip isn't ready for prime time yet.

I have an Onda v972 with the latest v2.0 firmware, which I think is pretty darn good. Have you ever used one? Or are you just guessing and watching youtube videos posted by disappointed people whining about early firmware bugs? The A31 SDK is improving all the time, and the latest version with the 2.0 SDK is a huge improvement...

Battery life is an issue, no question about that, but that's often true in general for China tablets, regardless of display size.

I really wonder, what do you use your tablet for? I read documents, emails, browse the interwebs, and watch movies.

1. There are no significant performance issues when reading documents and the 4x as many pixels makes a HUGE difference in the clarity of the text. I can't go back to my non-retina tablet for reading documents now, it just looks like crap.

2. Same goes for writing emails and reading homepages and emails. I really can't say I have had any performance issues either. Web browsing was sometimes slow on the v972 before, but it seems to mostly be a software issue and seems to have been greatly improved with the 2.0 SDK.

3. As for watching movies, there is no lag whatsoever, not even with 1080p material. So I don't see how a Retina display wouldn't be preferable here. (Except 1920x1080 would obviously be more logical if you're into watching movies a lot.) It's still perfectly fluid, and you have enough resolution for 1080p, which you don't on 1280x800 or 1024x768!

For gaming, I would perhaps not recommend a retina tablet. Then an edge in responsiveness is probably more important than having a lot of pixels. But that's about it. If the bulk of the time spent on the tablet is some form of reading text and watching movies, I would definitely recommend an A31 retina tablet. It is not terribly slow. It actually works just fine. (Or possibly wait a while for RK3188, but then you can always play that game and wait for something slightly better...)
