Do you know how to do a full backup with phoenix. I have had to reflash about 4 times for various reasons... ?

Even though phoenix has backup.. I can only connect to reflash..

so is this just a container for future Fast9x custom modding or someone is actually going to do some modding to improve the ROM on this product? If there are community support then I am definitely getting it. Was considering Ainol but since they have wifi issue it's a no go. Now checking out Onda V972 and Netxway Fast9X tablet.

I bought a Nextway Fast 9 X from spemall.com as shown here:

After fully charging the tablet I started using it and it froze. I then restarted it and its froze a total of 5 times. Its had errors with the launcher, when opening the apps tab all the images would look like the background but pixelated.

Next, I was able to disable some things for the tablet to run properly without crashing. However, this thing score terrible on benchmarks and is VERY slow moving. The processor is actually 1.08Ghz not 1.5.

I was able to overclock on the stock kernel and such to 1.152 stable.
I was hoping someone could help to develop ROMs, Kernels, etc to make this thing work better.
Any and all ideas or feedback is appreciated.

Things that I didnt notice when I bought it is: I dont believe there is bluetooth or GPS

Hi monster..

I had a lot of problems at first, similar with apps crashing.. here is what I did to fix it. My tablet is now running perfect.. I will post some videos so people can see on the weekend..

1. Make sure you reflash using the rom (links at start of this thread) - do this with Phoenix suite..
2. this gets you back to the bloatware chinese rom.. just get into android on your first boot, change to english.. then go into settings > backup & reset > factory data reset.
( When it asks you if you want to wipe SD, say YES).

- now you have a really clean rom, with root.

- you can overclock with set cpu. i can clock stable at 1200mhz - thoroughly tested with antutu stability test.
- I am running mine @ 1150 just to be safe.

One last thing - I have found Apex launcher to be by far the fastest. I never use stock... but nova laucher seems to develop lag after a while of the tablet running and running apps.

APex is perfect..

yes i'm working on it but will take me little since im not an eexpert rom developer and even on allwinner a31 im reading and continue to be sure i dont brick or make you brick yours

Just also wanted to add that this removes all the Chinese bloatware.. much quicker & easier than doing it one by one.

Not sure what exactly was causing it.. but like Monster stated above, I had to reflash my system about 4 times because it seemed like the system kept corrupting. I had apps crashing, underlying system processes (android.process.acore) - stuff that was hard to fix... but after factory reset this fixed everything. Unlike other roms the factory reset and wipe SD also removed all the pre-installed apps (usually it doesn't).

I confirm the Cwm recovery is working on the f9x just we would need to compile it separetly to make the esc button as scroller right now both work as enter and cannot scroll the options cuz this tablet has no volume key. I will try if USB OTG works for keyboard or mouse.

Hi Darkrickpr .. can you or anyone else that has the F9x plug it into a HDTV and see what resolution the tablet outputs..

Run antutu etc after you connect and see what it says is the screen resolution..

BTW, this might be old news to many but just yesterday Archos has officially announced to release the Archos 97 Platinum, the same Allwinner A31 Retina tablet that we have, this February.

According to the CES 2013 videos it only has two dedicated buttons, one for power and one possibly the escape key, and from the specs it has a 0.3MP front cam and 2MP back cam. This makes the Archos 97 Platinum more similar to our Nextway F9X than the other A31 tabs. If so, this is great news because a possibly compatible professional Archos firmware will be available for us in less than 2 weeks.

Where can I download the compatible TWRP to install.. I have installed twrp for the GS3 before.. but from memory it was build specific for the S3.. so is the TWRP you have working custom build that you need to upload or is it just a generic download?

There is now a solution for not being able to write to SD. You need to format your SD as exfat.

FYI - for me using windows 7 & card reader/write - a quick format did not work. when I plugged back into the tablet, it came up SD card error.. (in the android notifications, when when I then clicked on gave me the option to format.. I said yes)...

Still.. not working.. So then I plugged the USB into my PC, mount usb storage.. and the external drive appears (but windows prompts to format it.. so this time I did the same Exfat, but didnt choose quick format..

It took about 30 minutes for a 16gb SD to format.. but voila.. now external SD is writable...

I would suggest anyone else.. just put your SD in the tablet, connect to windows and mount usb storage.. and then from window hit format - select exfat and DONT tick quick format - should work first go.

I'm sure there are plenty of things you can do to finetune this rom.. but mostly I am pretty happy..especially for a stock rom..

The only real issue that I see as an area that could be improve substantially is the market compatibility.

I have noticed on the ainol/onda threads custom roms that have addressed this to some degree..

I have edited the build prop on various roms but by no means do I fully understand how the market determines device compatibility.

Is it just as simple as copying the build prop from one of the other roms.. or is there some sort of signature / signing process etc that makes it more involved.

Either way.. that is really the only thing I can think of I would love to see in the custom rom..

As you know there is a tiny bit of lag on the touchscren (on the launcher for example..) > but I would imagine this is not something you could address with a custom rom but will need updated firmware from allwinner?

yes the stock firmware is very nice and very close to perfect but it still some tweaks and add modules for XBOX360 PS3 gamepads and bluetooth via OTG

I'm afraid it won't, because the touch screen has different drivers. I have one FREELANDER PD80WISE, which has the same screen driver as f9x, so twrp works fine, but I flashed onda v972 Rom and touch screen didn't work. But mine has the same camera as onda, so it doesn't work with f9x Rom. I wish I knew where the camera and touch screen drivers are located so I can mix onda rom with f9x's and mine.
