Can't save edited buil.prop

I.know it must be something stupid, but I'm trying to change the lcd from 180 to 160 and I can't save the edited file. Rooted with Gingerbreak 1.2, can see and open buil.prop in /local/system, changed 180 to 160 and tried to save but it wouldn't sve the file.What am I missing?

Unless you have edited the default.prop you cannot write to the system. Change the 1s to 0s and 0s to 1s.

Thanks but......
When I tried editing it, first changing 1 to 0, keyboard went wierd. Tried starting at bottom changing 0s to 1s first and successfully edited default.prop but it wouldn't save either.

what are you using to edit it? Are you making sure the system is R/w before you try to edit?

I am using es file explorer. I copied the file and saved it to sd. I can edit and save that one, but not the original so I guess it is ro and I don'T know how to change that in /system/.

I tried that. When I try to turn on root options I gt a message that says it only works with HiAPK or something else. I tried both options but get a message saying my phone failed the test and it won't work.

I had the same prob u need to update es file explorer from playstore then go to it nd u. Will b able to enable it. But I'm using pdsn rooted same way latest firmware but SOME apps wasnt able to remount system as r/w
