My wife's just got a joytab Gemini devices gem 7020. It's got 7 in display 8gb onboard, 1gb ram, cortex A9 rk3066 dual core CPU, android 4.1, crap antutu scores though. My question is what can I do to speed it up? Can it be rooted? If so how? Custom ROMs? ETC?

Ran root checker from market and it appears to be rooted. Support@geminidevices.com don't answer my emails. Any ideas?
