Probably best to wait until the tablets are actually out and see which ones become popular.

That's what we did with the RK3066 ones anyway. Any thoughts mrsburnout?

Correct. The popular RK3066 tablets get their own group and the unpopular ones get put into "unlisted RK3066". Same should happen with RK3188. ie. expect an unlisted RK3188 group

Thanks for the news.

Specs look really great for this tablet. Right now in the lab and probably undergoing testing. I do not expect it to be available for another 6 weeks time.

I think worth waiting for RK3188 tablets to see what they can offer. Another 6-8 weeks and should start being sold. CPU performance will be super strong with this chip. GPU performance should be better than Exynos 4412 (& RK3066). But, impossible to know if RK3188 GPU will perform better than one in A31 chip until actually benched.

*YUANDAO N80 DUAL (RK3066)
*CUBE U30GT (RK3066)- Defective; buttons broke in 2-3 weeks; Bad quality control!!! Must return to China for repair! =(
*WOPAD I7 (RK2918)

Got an exclusive update for you guys :) I emailed Ben Lai at PiPO and asked him about release dates, he said the following:

Hi

Next week will make pilot run and ship some quantity in Chinese market

Will make mass production and release to market early of March

Just in case I want to look it up later, what's the other thread? Sorry, I'm kinda new here.

There was some info I found about this tablet.
"... the Pipo M9′s Antutu benchmark score will burst to 18000+"

Looks good indeed, I just wonder if the gpu can handle 1080p video if they release retina display tablets with this chipset.

I have to wonder why they chose a Mali MP4 for the GPU when the CPU is so much stronger. You would think a power VR chipset would be a better option, unless the power vr is a major power hog?

I think they were both announced as 1920x1200 which isn't retina quality but that's defiantly a good thing. By the look of the specs I don't think games would run well at retina resolution, the Mail400 is good but not that good!

That would be one of the highest Antutu scores I have seen although I'd like to see some other benchmarks and real life tests as well.
Sometimes things can be tweaked to favour certain benchmarks ;)

Having used the Ramos W30HD which is also 1920 x 1200 I can say that it is definitely good enough! Although only 224 ppi (see Nickos-V's excellent thread HERE) it looks crisp and sharp and of course is slightly greater than 1080p resolution so videos all the way up to 1080p look fantastic.

Whether the Mali400 is up to the job is debatable. In the Ramos W30HD which uses the Mali400 running at 400Mhz (Exynos 4412) the 3D benchmarks were not as good as on some of the new Allwinner A31 Retina tablets. So will have to wait and see whether the Mali400 running at 533 Mhz (RK3188) will be enough.

I thought the Ramos W30HD ran the MALI at 533Mhz ?

Desperately trying to hold off buying a tablet until this comes out. The RK3066 seems a bit iffy, and I'm annoyed about the lack of bluetooth and GPS in a lot of these pads :-( The A31 seems really good (I'm not too worried about the slightly weaker CPU on it), but then it seems like a major power hog.

Looks like a review is out for an early version of the PiPO M9 including benchmarks, screen comparison and teardown.

Thanks vanq69er for the link, I bet the antutu scores might be even better when the final version comes out.

Thanks for the links vanq69er,

Looks like a great tablet. The case design reminds me of the Mix M2 which was one of my favourite tablets.

What do you guys think will be better quality the Cube or the PiPO? I know the Cube U30GT had wifi and speaker issues in the first version, would really suck if there was the same QA issues in this new tablet.

Are PiPO generally pretty good build quality? I think I like the metal back of the Cube better than the M9 though.

Also where is a good site to buy PiPO (if that's allowed mods, sorry if its not!)? I know the cube-tablet, ramos-tablet etc guys are the same company and they are generally pretty good but they dont have a site for pipo.

I am also in a mix as to which Tablet to go for

I was in for the Onda 972 till i got messed about by Their "sale" outlet

I was then looking at the Chuwi V99

Now there is the Pipo M9 and the Cube GT30 2

!!!!!

I read on here every day for clues, the Chuwi V99 seems to be getting sorted out with Firmware upgrades - do the experienced folk think that the RK3188 units will require similar "tweeks" or will they be ok from the off ?

I should have a slight window of inspection due to me now deciding to only buy from a UK based outlet after hearing the horror stories of the far East !

Based on what happened with the 3066 I'm looking to buy may or June. I suspect anything earlier will be pre production with poor long term support, u30gt w.

Cube have been good with firmware upgrades.

If you can wait, do not get an A31 tablet. Rk3188 is a way faster soc. A7 1.2ghz vs A9 1.8ghz.

I cant wait for them to iron out the bugs, I have been waiting since last year to get a 10.1 inch tablet.

I am just going to risk it haha, at this stage I am thinking PiPO just because I have more information on them (for the moment).
