Another PiPO product with built-in 3G-WCDMA module has been release to market. This time, it's a 7-inch Tablet which has similarity to PiPO U2 Tablet except for 3G module. It is called PiPO U3 which is now available at an Online Store based in Shenzhen China for a slightly higher price of US$185.99 including a world-wide free shipping.

I am not sure how this is going to work for PiPO as we all know, there are much better alternative 3G Tablets available at Pandawill.com for the same price like FreeLander PD10 Typhoon that we've featured here before. Although the MediaTek MTK6577 chipset it uses is less powerful than PiPO U3's Rockchip RK3066, the huge 5200mAh Battery Capacity, a built-in A-GPS and native Call&Text feature of FreeLander PD10 Typhoon what makes it above the PiPO U3.

PiPO U3 sports a DualCore 1.6GHz Cortex A9 processor with an excellent QuadCore Mali400 graphics, it has a 1GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of Storage which is enough to offer such exciting performance we've seen on other Rockchip RK3066 products. It also have a QHD Screen resolution (1024x600) with an IPS Screen Technology that boost the screen's crispness and vividness with a great visibility at such high angles.

It has a single loudspeaker which provides good Sound quality and clarity but is surely not enough to bring excellent output outdoor. It offers all the casual user interface ports like a micro-USB with Host function, a 32GB max. microSDCard expansion slot, and mini-HDMI out that the first PiPO U series product lacks. It runs on latest JellyBean 4.1.1 OS with unique PiPO Tablet UI, very smooth and responsive. A decent WiFi B/G/N connectivity. And of-course, a good Dual Camera availability. Front is 0.3MP which is good enough as a WebCam for video calls and the Rear Camera is a 2.0MP, decent enough for capturing photos outdoor during day.

The only CONS I am seeing is the 3000mAh Battery Capacity which is only rated to last 4hrs of continuous 3G connection usage. Battery Life may vary on WiFi usage, as for my experience PiPO with Rockchip RK3066 chipsets last longer on Internet Browsing using WiFi connection. But it'll definitely not going to be enough for Heavy 3D Gaming. The other CONS is the lack of built-in A-GPS which other competition is ready to offer. It can be useful especially when you travels frequently.

Do not get me wrong, PiPO has been known releasing such great rock-solid and stable products, PiPO U3 will definitely not going to break that. Plus, having a 3G connectivity is always great whenever you're outside a WiFi hotspot zone. It's just, it will be more appealing if it is priced a little bit lower than US$170.00.

Greetings:

Would anyone know what Bluetooth Version this Pipo U3 has?
Is it Version 2.1, 3.0, or what I'm looking forward to Version 4.0?

Regards Robert
