Megaupload with new name up again!

Former Megaupload is up again using the name MEGA right now. For to signup go to: http://mega.co.nz which is maybe impossible at the moment because of overload of the Server! To many registration which are already in the million within the last 24h!

The new concept from Mega is that only the user knows what contents his upload really has. There is an usersite encryption used which only the user could access and handle. Good for the operator of that site: Kim Dotcom, former Kim Schmitz who's is still under house arrest in New Zealand.

Let see what will go on and how the authorities will "play" with that.

Kim is giving people who sign up with Mega 50 Gb of free storage. I see where lots of people would sign up and with the use of encryption who can tell if he's breaking any copyright laws.

After seeing all their security problems on ZDnet I'm not sure I'd trust them with any files.

If you like to store important or highly confidential content on an Cloud Storage, for sure you would use an site like Mega, Rapid and many others! And if you do you know already about the high security risk you're taking! So, what's the deal? For illegal or not soooooo legal content, any of that site just would be good! Even for something you really don't mind about, a offered free 50GB of storage isn't something for just to "draw away"! Just go to check how much 50GB would be cost on just ONE File Server on just one Data Center Server! And here you get 50GB on an Cluster Server just for free!

And last but not least, who knows who has written, investigate or whatsoever what's reported at ZDNet?!

Yeah... Like buying new Ferrari for himself.

Anyway, 50GB of free space is enough of reason for people to sign up.
I like the idea of clould services but I have hard time actually start using it.

Are they still offering the 50gb free? I was just on the site and didn't see any reference to it in the Free Account link.

I really hope Kim Dotcom sues the US and NZ Governments for reparations, due to all the damage they've done to him :-/
