Is there any way to write images (both firmware and Ubuntu images) to the MK808 without using Windows?
Regards,
~Jeff

It's been awhile since your last post, but I'm not sure if you've seen this:
# Suggestion that flashing from Linux should be possible
http://ubuntu.g8.net...tallation-guide
# Referenced post
http://www.slatedroi...a-adb-on-linux/
# Thread where someone asks about tools for flashing the RK3066
http://www.armtvtech....php?f=66&t=350
# Tools linked in the above thread
http://www.arctablet...let_using_Linux
Hope that gets you somewhere.
Also, Bodhi Linux is looking really good. Good work from you and your team.

Thanks for the links - was poking around in them and nothing in any of them indicates a decent way to get a new Android ROM onto an MK808 without using Windows - and for whatever reason my Windows VM does not appear to be good enough.
I'm not dedicated enough to getting things working on these cheap sticks to install Windows outside a VM to try it.
My search for a decent low power, low cost Linux support device will continue I guess. The MK808 and MK802 are both out.
Cheers,
~Jeff

DD seems to work really well. I will try to hunt down the article I read where people had success in just DD the correct images to correct partitions and locations on the NAND. look into dd should get you started! I know it will work. As far as toying with NAND from Linux (Picuntu) on the 808 I have yet to fiddle because I've been busy packing tarballs of barebones and super sweet extras setup for Picuntu to share with the comunity. Will try to put some attention to finding those dd articles and also accessing the NAND myself. Good luck!

this article briefly mentions dding kernel.img to recovery partition but im still searching for the dd example someone posted of dding all correct images.
yeah looks like dd command is totally your easiest best bet.
Not that I'm telling you that you dont know how to use dd but from the information in this link its pretty simple to flash the 808 is USB debug connected to linux using dd.

Let me know if you find that link about using DD.
I searched around a bit and didn't find anything on it - even that guide you linked to says you need the Windows flashing tool.

I have an MK808 since two weeks now and I used rkflashtool for writing kernel.img.
Here you can find a simple howto:
