Thanks for these interesting results.
Pity that you used the comparison view in Antutu and PassMark, the details view would be more useful.

I wonder why the Vellamo Metal score is so high compared to the Hero 2. Did you check /proc/cpuinfo to see what CPU part ID it reports?

I manage to disable the bloatware in System menu but I can't remove them with ES File Explorer and Titanium Backup, what should I do?

I have a touchscreen issue with the AC charger, I would not recommend to use it.

Sounds like the tablet isn't rooted yet.
People have reported before that Ainol's chargers aren't very good and interfere with the touchscreen. It's a good idea to not use them.

I watched TV Shows in 720p it was alright but it's better to not download at the same time.
Need for Speed Most Wanted runs but not very smoothly.
Rayman Jungle Run seems to have issue with the touch screen.

Thanks for posting your results.

I find your Metal score interesting too. I wonder if they improved DISK IO (in firmware with buffers?) to get such a high score? Venus should have scored similar to Hero II. 250. I wonder what difference there is between the two.

This is why better to look at individual results rather than totals.
For instance, on my N80 (only first two measure CPU performance and account only for 38% of my total)
Metal Score: 526 - Dhrystone: 112, Linpack: 87, Branch-K: 141, Stream: 91, RamJam: 66, Storage: 29

Please click view details & give a breakdown to see where the performance is coming from for your tablet.

Dhrystone - integer, Linpack - floating point, Branch-K - branching ability, Stream - sustained memory bandwidth, RamJam - peak memory bandwidth, Storage - I/O & transfer speeds.

CF-Bench would be a good CPU only test to run.

Nenamark2 & Vellamo HTML5 are still on the low side which point to weak GPU performance. At least the GPU scores will stay pretty much the same between Hero II & Venus.

*MINIX NEO X5 (RK3066) - OK. Not fun because uses mouse cursor.
*YUANDAO N80 DUAL (RK3066) - Very good
*CUBE U30GT (RK3066)- Defective; buttons broke in 2-3 weeks; Bad quality control!!! I will never buy a Cube again!!! - Very good while working
*WOPAD I7 (RK2918)- About OK. Sluggish because has weaker ARM chip (RK2918) & less RAM (512 MB).

Vellamo score is awful today, what's wrong?
Metal Score: 250 - Dhrystone: 42, Linpack: 40, Branch-K: 72, Stream: 35, RamJam: 39, Storage: 28

The device is already rooted but the bloatware folder is on read only, I can't delete it.

I recieved my one three days ago and can't fault it.

The copy of NFS I have seems to run fine for me (NFSMW.1.0.28.MOD_Nexus7).

Can't fault the Venus at the moment, all looking good and working well. Only bug is the top right hand of the bezzle has a bit of play in it. If you hold it there, it will compress a little.

Whats a good high cpu/graphics game to try out on it?

Looking forward to a custom rom for this one day, has anyone tried CWM on it?

Ordered last Thursday night from ainol-novo and recieved it in the UK on Monday.

Possessing a Note 2 I'm a quite demanding but for a low cost slate the result is honorable.

N80
Metal Score: 526 - Dhrystone: 112, Linpack: 87, Branch-K: 141, Stream: 91, RamJam: 66, Storage: 29
Venus
Metal Score: 250 - Dhrystone: 42, Linpack: 40, Branch-K: 72, Stream: 35, RamJam: 39, Storage: 28

When I run Metal I get 526, 527, 528 & sometimes 500. Score stays pretty much the same for me. Not sure why you ended up with 4xx that one day. Maybe something in memory that is slowing it down which you had killed off??? Or maybe Metal screwed up somehow??? No idea what happened. The Hero II also gets 250 for Metal score.

I can see ATM7029 is very weak on Dhrystone (integer tests) and pretty weak on the rest too except for Storage.

Whats a good high cpu/graphics game to try out on it?

Gameloft games. Some of them are free. Only a few of them are very graphic intense and will not run that well on it.

*MINIX NEO X5 (RK3066) - OK. Not fun because uses mouse cursor.

thanks for sharing the information ! I also owe one since two days, but i made a mistake and deinstalled playstore. I tried to install the new version ones again, but the market is not working...

Could you please make a backup of your playstore app and upload it ? That would be really amazing !

Greetings:

For those of you who have the Ainol Novo 7 Venus Tablet can you check to see if:

1) Skype Works: can you make a Skype Video Call whereby both you and the other person's video works without any lag, sound OK too.

2) HDMI port works with an LCD TV, is there any lag.

3) Can you confirm if the Venus has GPS or Assisted GPS yes or no.

4) What is the Battery life like when you stream video movies non stop, how many hours before the battery dies.

If the Novo 7 Venus Tablet Passes all these above tests I'll buy one.

Regards Robert

Hello,

I need a serious help with my semi-bricked Ainol 7 Venus quad core.
When I received it two weeks ago I had some weired behaviors with the date.
And to make it short after struggling I became crazy and deleted build.prop and default prop.

I asked Ainol and they send me a link for the firmware which I noticed is aimed to the Hero quad core. I believe it's ok, but after installing the driver provided with the Action tablet production software, the tablet is not detected by that software, so the flashing can not be started.

Then I thought about an update.zip, since I can still reboot in the stock recovery mode.
So I made my way to extract the sistem.img with linux, and take a new fresh build.prop file.
Then I used an empty update.zip found on xda to place my file and launch it through the stock recovery mode.
But I obtain the message "aborted" when processed.

I have to say that when it was still running, I unchecked the superuser setting in my tablet.
I am wondering :
- if I still have to sign the update.zip , and how.
-if with superuser unchecked, the tablet rooted state is not working anymore and hence not providing the possibility to place build.prop in /system.
-if the driver provided is not compatible with the venus quad core.

I pressed the V+ 5 seconds, while plugging the tablet in the computer USB. Windows7 seven prompt me to install the driver. Which I do manually. But the Action tablet production wont recognize it and start flashing.

Please help me to flash it with the firmware or to create the update.zip, to at least copy build.prop in /system.

Thank you.

I was also so stupid to overwrite the build.prop from the Novo Hero to the Venus.

Now the Device is not booting completly,

it hangs up after the first Logo. I can go Recovery Menu to install a update.zip that will replace the build.prop on /System.

Via ADB i cannot Access the Venus anymore, also the Firmware Flashing Tool doesnt recognize the Venus anymore.

i already used some update.zips from xda forum and over here but nothing really helps out. it stated out that installation is aborded.

Right now my Script looking like this.

something like that :
ui_print(" Mounting system...");
assert(mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p14", "/system"));
set_progress(0.100000);
ui_print(" Deleting old build.prop...");
delete("/system/build.prop");
set_progress(0.400000);
ui_print(" Injecting build.prop....");
set_progress(0.410000);
assert(package_extract_dir("system","/system"));
set_progress(0.800000);
ui_print(" build.prop successfully injected!");
ui_print(" unmounting /system...");
assert(unmount("/system"));
set_progress(1.000000);
ui_print(" Done! Yay!");

please help me out if you can.

Hi,

i have extracted the build.prop from the firmware, that is not the issue.

My problem is how to copy it to the Tablet\System folder with the update.zip and recovery menu.

Hello,
We have the same challenges...
No ADB possible, but if we can boot in FASTBOOT mode maybe we can flash through FASTBOOT FLASH... but I don't know the buttons combination to do so. And I don't know if the tablet will be recognized.
I am also frustrated too because the software that Ainol provided with the firmware is not detecting the tablet.
I tried to write a script too, but I am not sure the script is signed correctly. Because on the Venus tablet it only shows the "aborted" message, but on an other tablet I have, it tells me clearly that it is a signature problem.
Maybe someone here can write for us a correctly signed update.zip, with the build.prop or even the whole system.img. It would be great then to know the efficient tools and steps to sign the update.zip files.
That's what I got for now. If you have found your way ( I hope it for you), it would be nice to share.

Dear forum police man, duly noted!

While your at it, why don't you pull up the ungrateful person below the me who quoted it all again?

What about if someone is searching for a particular phrase using Google, will they still be able to return a result if it is embeded in a spoiler tag?

Dear forum police man, duly noted!

Not trying to single you out but you honestly have no idea how many times I have seen people post build.props that took up space & I had no interest looking at them. I had to scroll through them. Then you get people that also like to "fully quote" the original poster which is another no-no and bad too. I always take the time to cut out un-needed stuff which saves space and only takes a few seconds for me to do.

It is called proper posting/forum etiquette!!! Not just you but everyone should follow proper posting rules!!! Other people have a problem with this too.

1 post with build.prop I can handle. But imagine having 10 people "quote" your entire post in this thread. How much fun would it be to be scrolling through your quoted build.prop 10 times???

That other person was also in the wrong by quoting your entire post. He should at very least cut out build.prop.

Sometimes I wonder if people are too lazy or uncaring to edit quoted posts??? I have seen this happen many times & for very long quoted posts gets very annoying to scroll past them over & over.

PS, that is all for my off-topic rant. Anymore talk about this should really be in another thread or through PM.

PPS, you can post "build.prop for Novo7 Venus tablet" as title outside of the spoiler and that will certainly get picked up. Not sure if anything in the spoiler does.
