I had root access out of the box, but without any app to manage the access (no Superuser or SuperSU). However, Titanium Backup reports root and backup/restore apps works perfectly, Terminal Emulator gets me a # prompt from su without any prompting for root, and ES File Manager lets me browse to root and into /system etc. etc.
Have had some minor trouble connecting to my WiFi at home, but from what I've read this is normal for routers that don't broadcast their SSID though. Testing it at work (with broadcasting SSID) it connects perfectly every time.
Not sure if anybody needs more info than this, if you do, let me know. I'm not planning to install a custom ROM just yet, it's running quite nicely as it is, so I'll be keeping it stock for a while.
