Hi guys,

I've been snooping around these forums and so far we know that there are probably 2 batch 3 variants and we need to identify them. I don't think we should encourage anyone to flash CM10 or something and check if the device is bricked though

I'm asking you guys with batch 3 Crystals to post your serial numbers with additional comments:
-stock firmware version
-full serial number
-bricked or not?

My theory based on scraps of information in posts here is that 121208G0xxxxx are the batch with old bootloader and 121208G1xxxx are the batch with new one. God knows what are the other differences.

On official Ainol forums there's a post about Ainol Fire (Google translated):

Im not sure but I think the difference is that the batch3 with new bootloader has got stock ROM from decemeber and old bootloader ones from 1119. Maybe it will help, maybe someone confrim?

My is 121208 with 1119 on stock and G00220. People in Poland with similar parameters tried to flash CM10 and got it but without working sensor

I hope to be a developer myself sometime in the future, but I struggle with not having time in my life. For now, I can help out. I have this batch 3 tab... It is completely stock & untouched. Considering all I've seen here so far, I have no intentions of flashing anything on it yet. So far, I've seen that it seems to have root user permissions right out of the box, as I was able to write a test.txt file in the system folder using ES File Explorer in root explorer mode.

I run linux (Fedora 17) on my laptop & have learned the command line quite well. I am able to see everything in ADB Shell. I would like to help by providing the ROM to you & whoever else could use it. I can easily ADB pull anything & everything if I have to. Is that a good way to get everything??? Should I try to flash Clockworkmod & make a backup??? I haven't tried that yet cause I've seen some people mentioning that they couldn't get it to flash on the batch 3 versions. I didn't want to risk messing it up before I can pull files out of it. Please let me know what I should do & consider it done. Thanks.

well here's the following of my batch 3 crystal tab -
1) SN : 121208G18310
2) erased my ROM by mistake and downgraded to 0928 but 1119 seems to wotk f9 nd 0928 too.
3) not bricked (HOPEFULLY!!!) just the 0928 fw didn't gave me tablet ui.

Thst's all. If someone hasn't touched his/her new crystal then plz make a backup from cwm or TWRP nd post it here i need it urgently.

That is definitely a different Kernel build number than I've seen yet. I googled it and came up with nothing but a tablet with this kernel number 3.0.8-Gcda8713-Dirty which is just one digit off. Can you double check? The tablet is called the DOSPARA TABLET A07I-D15A and looks identical to the Ainol Crystal. Anyone else with a batch 3 want to report their kernel numbers?

I bought two new Crystals for my sons ... and one is now semi-bricked after I tried to flash with CM10.

I have been unable to make a backup of the going one and I call the other one semi bricked because it actually starts to load.
I get the green android ... then the screen that says Ainol Tab Novo7 Crystal before the screen goes black but with the backlight still on.

Good heavens ... that really does look almost identical to the Crystal with the white case. I have one black and one white ... and there is very little difference ... right down to the accessories.

PS ... anyone able to tell me what sort of screen the Dospara ones are supposed to have???

Previously installed Soulfliers ROM screen wouldn't rotate and camera would give green screen then reverted back to stock and back to normal everything working

Looks like we can determine batch 3 types by installed kernel.

3.0.8-g710665b-dirty - Same Kernel as 1119 Batch 2 Crystals.

3.0.8-gcda8713-dirty or 3.0.8-gcda87f3-dirty - New Kernel. You'll brick your device if you try to flash anything.

I came up with new weird thing, I flashed CM10.1 on my 121208 and unlike CM10 it has working camera and rotation. It's "old" batch 3.

Can you get into recovery or use ADB? You could push the build.prop from someone elses back-up to your device and it might work.
