If your unable to download directly try entering the link in Google Translate

In order to update you have to download RKBatchtool,
Here is how I prefer to update
  • Have the power cable and usb cable plugged in
  • While turned on in Android, press and hold the power button
  • Click the first confirmation and then begin to hold both the power and volume+ button
  • Click ok to the second confirmation and let the tablet reboot
  • Windows should detect the tablet
    • If RKBatchtool can't detect and windows gave you the sound new hardware was detected you have to install the drivers
    • Go to the device in device manager and right click it and select Update Drivers on it
    • Click Browse your computer for your drivers
    • Go to the folder where you extracted RKBatchTool and select the driver representative to your OS
    • If it doesn't successfully install the drivers you either have the driver select or the wrong device

  • Open RKBatchTool and if it is chinese click the first button on the bottom left and select the bottom item on the list
  • Select the path to your firmware with the ... button on the top right
  • If the device is green it means it can upgrade if it's a different color restart the process and you shouldn't have to install drivers
  • Press the upgrade button and wait(make sure your tablet is stable and you have a good usb cable, the one they supplied with my tablet was junk)
  • After upgrading your tablet should reboot and begin installing the new firmware

Hi,

How did you get on with this firmware?

I've not tried it yet but downloaded the RK Tool and looked at the firmware but it says version 4.0.4 on the 16gig download so is that a backstep to ICS?

The 8gb version says 4.0.4 on the FW version for the batch tool also, but when flashed it's 4.1.1. So I'm guessing the 16gb is also 4.1.1 if your on a newer or some version as that you probably won't need to flash.

Can it detect it when in non flash mode? E.g. while the tablet is in android and connected to the computer

Thanks Brodi!

I immediately upgraded to the Hold X 16GB (no bluetooth) firmware you linked and presto! I got 12262 Antutu bench performance which is more than twice the performance of the stock firmware installed in the tablet.

You should use the non bluetooth version has the bluetooth version has issues with non bluetooth devices. If it's pink you should boot your tab into flash mode and install the drives if it's not being detected properly.

Sorry but how do i get it to flash mode. Im a bit noob in Android but anything Gaming and Hardware in PC Im ace.If you could make the flashing procedure a bit more simpler for 1st time users.

(PC cracking and patching and updating bios looks a lot easier honestly!:p)
