Dunno either rockchip chip itself / firmware / driver issues,
This thing only flies in benchmark, when you put in games, heavy graphics one, one using Unreal engine for example, frame rate is low, certainly no match for Tegra 3 smoothness on onex, don't have N7 to compare, imagine will not be much different.
In-game it never ramps up to 1.6 Ghz, it jut stays 1 - 1.2 Ghz, maybe once again China stuff is not as what they advertised.
it only runs 1.6 GHz in non-game. Not impressed by rockchip platform so far.

Try Wild blood, or gameloft dark night, avenger initiative for example.

See what Archos achived with the RK3066 in their Gamepad ;)

most probably they clock the Mali GPU higher somehow (maybe it's also a special RK3066 Edition)

I actually used a package which I found elsewhere. (still based on the one you linked though) It was for a momo11. To be sure, I still copied my momo7 parameter file over from a default ROM. I'm sure the generic version would be fine to be honest, if you use your existing perimeter file, I think it should work fine.

In fact, I'll be interested to know if it fixes the mirror image problem I spoke of :D

Would you mind sharing a link to the one you're using?

I spent some quality time trying to combine Momo7 talent official recovery kernel with momo8 CWM recovery image. I found some useful pages on extracting and packing boot/recovery images but failed to get modified recovery image to boot.

I have a problem with a local newspaper application which thinks the momo7 is incompatible. I've tried my best to tweak build.prop to look like samsung exynos4 but no amount of purging play/framework data has helped. I think using modded play market would be easiest but you need a CWM to install it.. And so we come to why I wanted to get working CWM in 1st place!

You can actually use google translate if you have another phone/tablet. I had to use it to figure out how to get rid of that calendar app.

Installing the 5.5x CWM worked just fine. So unless _fun compiles CWM 6.x for Momo7 talent, I'd suggest everyone to give it a miss.

Only caveats with the instructions given is that you need to install the bootloader driver before rkandroidtool or rkbatchtool (from talent firmware file) recognize the tablet. Drivers are included in both packages so it shouldn't be a problem. I'd also recommend intalling actualy android SDK somewhere so you have adb on hand. It's MUCH EASIER to write "adb reboot bootloader" than do these "hold three buttons at the same time and plug in usb cable" - tricks.

Getting rid of the Chinese apps might be fairly complicated if you're not familiar with the Linux command line, but this guide should work:

PS, the hard part maybe figuring out what those Chinese apps are called.
PPS, tablet should still start if you move (or delete) the wrong programs but then you will be missing those apps and have to re-install them somehow. So, use move instead of delete when you are unsure.

There's much easier way. You can use android commander from PC which can uninstall system apps. If you prefer doing it in in-system, you can use link2sd for example. Android commander can do batch uninstall so you just tick all the chinese apps and hit uninstall, it'll process them all.

Actually, version 6.x does work fine. As I've stated before, there's just a "double image" (only while using CWM). Hard to explain unless you see it but it's 100% usable.

http://www.flashmyan...-V3-1-(01-27-13)

That's the ROM which I was talking about btw. Works fine on the MOMO7, only bug I've noticed is that the task switcher thumbnails are upside-down. Also, edit build.prop to have the fake-rotation from 270 to 180 so the screen is the right way up.

Very smooth, very fast and most apps are compatible.

I was referring to using the generic CWM 6.x and/or trying to customize it with ployer firmware.. In general I don't see much need for 6.x since 5.x works OK. My only complaint wrt firmware so far is the grievous battery life. I don't think decontaminated helps on that? It should be possible to lift the kernel alone from decontaminated if one was really adventurous..

Different (lower resolution) on archos 1024x600, Talent is 1280x800, there is no special tricks or super rk3066 in play here, there is simply less pixels to push, hence higher fps.

HI I may join you guys a little later I am observing current owners feedback and chats about this tablet. What i noted is that many says the screen is superd. But the main issue is the battery drain. while some says can use only up to around 3 hours when do web browsing... some says it last as long as 9 hours of light usage. :). And there is that guy buying batteries and trying to get them replace in hope to get this tablet's can run as long or better than his other high end device - Ipad... But it seems the last time We heard from him was months back. I hope he is ok :). Hopefully he did not get any injury or something related to his battery xepeditions. Or worst case scenario, could the battery have exploded or something catch fire in the middle of the night. Just speculating. Hope he is well and ok and will be back with some good news. But he have been missing for a long while since... just hope he is ok even if there is no positive result from his attemps. Though :). Thanks guys for the very active chats and discussion on this Talent . Am looking at VIDO N70HD, ramos w28 and Ainol Nono venus and this Momo 7 talent... to decide which the best one :) . Thanks.

Hi,

I would like to buy a new tablet, but I can't decide between this two Pipo S3 and Ployer Talent. The talent is not much more expensive and it's got better resolution, more memory and bigger battery. However I don't know too much about the battery life, maybe there's no big difference. Which one should I pick ?

Thanks!

Péter

I don't know about Pipo products so I can't comment about them beyond telling you to read all the forums to find out what bugs people are seeing with them.
As for the Momo7 Talent I would not buy another one. It has great features with the 1280x800 IPS screen, Rockchip RK3066 uP, Mali quad core graphics processor, 16GB memory ....
but IMHO those pluses are overcome by the touch issue with the screen or firmware so that you constantly tap to wake up the screen before it starts responding to touch.
The micro USB jack issue is a biggie since they send you the micro usb charger instead of the one that fits in the power jack. The also incorrectly implemented the micro usb otg charging functions per the usb standards.
The case is not as sturdy as I like because of the rounded edges.
And another biggie for me I found after opening it up the other day and finding out that it has a 3200mah battery and not the 4000mah battery that the specifications show.
I only kept the tablet because I didn't want to go through the hassle to send it back to China and wait a month for a replacement.

Don't know if that helps or not but good luck with whatever you buy.

Hi Guys,

I got my MOMO 7 Talent already ;)

Its a very nice tablet with very good resolution.
Playing HD video on it was really nice indeed.
Smooth and flawless.

BUT when I tried HD YouTube Video on YouTube apps.

Latest version 4.4.1.1 .

Almost every HD clips played half way - the download bar start to slow till video freezed.
I tried an earlier version too. Still the same.
BUT I do noticed that HD clips on YouTube is crispy clear.

BUT sadly every clips plays very smoothly in the beginning will slow till freeze up near mid point upwards.

Is any one else facing such problem too ?

what should I do to overcome this halfway YouTube videos slow down /freeze situation ?
Quite a pity if HD quality YouTube video is unable to play smoothly though WiFi strength is confirm to be full bar though.
So I suspect the problem is not the Wifi but something else...... which I don't quite understand yet. ;)

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many Thanks. :)

I see the same thing with my Talent. I use to watch a lot of youtube videos and I don't remember this happening. Anybody else besides wahwhat and I seeing this?

I just did a google search on "youtube video slow loading" and apparently this is happening to a lot of people and has been for several months.
One poster believes it to be a buffering issue at youtube.

I hope it has nothing to do with DRM which is why I just cancelled my Amazon Prime account since I could no longer watch videos.
