I contacted the supplier about me flashing the 4.1.1 JB and they replied with the following;
So that explains why my sons WiFi won't turn on but no biggy for now, I can put all his films on by USB and just wait for the Ainol JB with correct WiFi drivers. I did also email Ainol last night after posting here, so I will see if I hear anything back from them and maybe my WiFi issue will shove them a long just enough to make sure they get the update out over the Xmas period, as the supplier seems to believe to be the case.
I'm afraid I can't help advise you with the differences between the two given options but hope you get to the bottom of it.
Regards,
Rob
Hi Rob,
so its good to know what happened and that it can be solved :-)
Mine is with the old chip (Batch 1) so I will do the update further because its a gift for my daughter and at this moment everything is working fine with ICS and so my daughter can play around with it and if something happens or breaks then I will update....
But one prob I have: 2 days ago I bought a SD card from San Disk, 16 GB Ultra Speed, and this does not work with the tablet, neither in Fat 32 neither NTFS, it says that its mounted but no way to acces the data on it. In one of my older phones it works perfect (Galaxy Ace). So if someone has more experience with SD cards any help will be apreciated.
Thanks to all,
solman

Happens on mine sometimes. I think apps keep running in the background which may drain out the battery.
I would suggest you keep it off and charge it for a couple of hours. I personally only charge using A/C, I've found my Samsung Galaxy Y charger works fine. If it doesn't start after charging, please do return it, you have a faulty device.

hi, not so easy, if you received it yesterday I suppose that it is one of the new ones Batch 2 (ainol changed the Wifi chip) so the actual update to Jelly Bean is not for you, only for Batch 1.
Batch 1 is for legends delivered till 11th december, Batch 2 for legends delivered after 11th of december.
Nevertheless you can try to update the only thing that could happen is that the wifi will not work and you´ll have to wait till Ainol releases the new firmware changing the wifi drivers...

Check the build number in the "About tablet" tab in settings.
Mine is 20121017 which I guess means October 17th 2012 so I guess I should be able to use the firmware on futeko. But I'd rather wait for Ainol to upload something on their website first.

Keep it plugged in for a while. Then try turning it back on, hold down the power button for a while. If it doesn't work you have a faulty device and should return it.

I have a Legend for about 2 weeks and last night after along reading topics about upgrading to Jelly bean I decide it to upgrade mine.
For user who want to upgrade it to Jelly Bean, I have some experience which somehow maybe usefull.
First thing you need a software call livesuit which can be found and donwload via futeco link and of course the firmware.
But what you need to know first thing that the wifi wont work in JB even i have build number 20121102.
The G sensor problem same as ICS but can't be fixed but in some game will work with change setting in SETTING - DISPLAY - ACCELEROMETER COORDINATE SYSTEM with selection of option 1 and 2 (depend on the game you play).
Second, the ugrade need to follow the instruction in futeco web but in some case sometime upgrade failed in 4% like mine.
(do not use mandatory upgrade in lifesuit like software recommend, use manual upgrade option)
If the tablet bricked or wont start here some action that "maybe" somehow can make it turn on again.
1. unplug cable from tablet to pc and other electrical source like wall charger
2. press and hold one button (any Button) except power button for about 10 sec (i.m using vol - button)
3. plug the charger via micro usb port (i'm using a blackberry charger)
4. when the screen turn on and show a battery charging, unplug the cable and turn the tablet on by pressing power button
my legend work that way after failed upgrade
5. repeat the upgrade instruction again if you still want to upgrade your tablet.
This is not an official way to turn your tablet on after failed upgrade but it is work for me and I hope anyone in this forum can use to bring the legend alive again.
Have a nice day ...

Thanks for that! I'm sure it will come in handy.
For the rest of us can you please share your experience with the tab? Both before and after jelly bean. Things like, multitasking, screen and viewing angles, battery life, gaming performance and so on. Anything will will be appreciated.
Thanks!

i thought that was the android build number, the batch code is hidden in the serial number, but i can't understand it
A little bit review~
it definitetly not a high performance tablet, but with it's price, surely worth it
overal experience is a bit laggy. sometimes freeze up when i'm loading big files (large book - moonreader or PSX game)
still haven't rooted yet, but some games runs good.
tested with cytus, FF 3, Zombie Frontier, etc
also test some emulators
- My boy (GBA) runs nicely (tested with Super Robot Taisen J and Kingdom Hearts)
- ePSXe kinda spotty, runs langrisser 4 and Digimon World with good FPS (50-60) but 28 average on Bloody roar 2
- Super GLSNES won't run, use snesoid instead
- other emu seems to work fine
built quality kinda bad, it felt like i'm holding a thin glass (maybe cause i got ogre's hand
loved the 4:3 screen ratio, LCD also have good viewing angle.
sound quality is typical, too bad i can't use my galaxy y earset
succesfully played HD movie with mx player (tested with Gundam Unicorn) but kinda buggy,
if you skip forward it'll reset and stutter until u reset your tablet (probably cause of ram, since the files are +- 2GB
the touchscreen is good, truely 5 touch point (test with dev tools)
for people with a really tight budget looking for their first experience in tablets, i think this is the right choice.
if u have a little more money then look for something else, maybe ainol FireFlame?

gonna root it later, any guide or tips i should do to improve the performance(overclock, underclock, cusroms)?
won't upgrade to JB, too risky cause i don't know if i can claim the warranty
