Didn't want to have an emtpy forum so I thought I'd start a Observations/Bugs Thread.

It would help a lot if everyone included the tablet(s) they own (include what version) and the ROM they are running on it in their signature so everyone can know what you are talking about in your comments....

Thank you! :good:

Please remember to update it if you change the ROM or kernel you are using! ;)

Hi,
I bought about 2 weeks ago the model Zenithink C94 1a and I also upgraded the firmware to version 1205_1.12.
I noticed however, 'that although the GPS contained in the tablet I can not see any satellite.
IS There any procedure to make the configuration of the GPS?
(I live in europe)
I also noticed that the tablet does not see the internal bluetooth although the seller had assured me that it was present in the tablet.
I hope you can help me because I have found the highest quality product and I would hate not being able to use neither the GPS nor Bluetooth

Thanks for your cooperation

Hopefully someone with a C94 H8_1a tablet will respond to your questions....

As far as I know, the C94 doesn't have an internal GPS, only network (wifi) based location.... And I'm not sure if the 1a has the internal BT, as I don't remember it being on the Zenithink picture for the C94 till recently, but I could be wrong about that also....

Again, hopefully someone who has your version tablet will answer your questions....

This Tablet have a problem. SDCard is regarded as internal. The external memory (SDCard real) is called extsd. I attach the file "vold.fstab" I believe responsible for reading external memory SDCard. Is in etc/
In many smartphone with Android system is the file responsible for reading the memory SDCard

This is the file open with Notepad++

## Vold 2.0 Generic fstab
## - San Mehat (san@android.com)
##

#######################
## Regular device mount
##
## Format: dev_mount <label> <mount_point> <part> <sysfs_path1...>
## label - Label for the volume
## mount_point - Where the volume will be mounted
## part - Partition # (1 based), or 'auto' for first usable partition.
## <sysfs_path> - List of sysfs paths to source devices
######################

## Example of a standard sdcard mount for the emulator / Dream
# Mounts the first usable partition of the specified device
#for internal emmc as primary storage
#dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/mxsdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc0
#for external sdcard as primary storage
#dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.3/mmc_host/mmc0/
#dev_mount extsd /mnt/sdcard/extsd auto /devices/platform/mxsdhci.0/mmc_host/mmc1
#used for usb host
dev_mount udisk /mnt/udisk auto /devices/platform/fsl-ehci.0/usb1
#used for usb otg host
#dev_mount udisk /mnt/sdcard/udisk auto /devices/platform/fsl-ehci.0/usb
#mount SDHC4 SD card /mnt/sdcard as primary storage forMX6Q SABER_LITE RevC
dev_mount extsd /mnt/extsd auto /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.2/mmc_host/mmc1
#mount SDHC3 TF card to /mnt/extsd as external storage forMX6Q SABER_LITE RevC
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 4 /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.3/mmc_host/mmc0

## Example of a dual card setup
# dev_mount left_sdcard /sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc1
# dev_mount right_sdcard /sdcard2 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.1 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host/mmc1

## Example of specifying a specific partition for mounts
# dev_mount sdcard /sdcard 2 /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc1

For read correctly, any ideas ?

Someone looking to buy a C94 told me that the seller he was asking questions to told him the C94's being sold now don't have internal BT.... No word back from Zenithink yet....

Edit: Zenithink just confirmed, 1a's don't have internal BT, and only the most recent 2a's (not all) have it.... BT functionality, for those who have it, will come in a later ROM.....

The problem of memory is very simple. By default, the Tab C94 assigns as external memory sdcard. But sdcard, in Table C94, is called the internal memory. The real external memory (your true SDCard) is called extsd. Each app used to move from internal memory to external memory, reads the external sdcard as "sdcard". But in C94 Tablet, the real external memory is called "extsd". Nothing app (App2SD; Droidsail App2sd lite/pro; Link2SD)read external memory as "exsd". Impossible move to REAL external memory SDCard. Also "Titanium Backup" don't read correctly. Don't possible make generic backup, because in Tablet C94, real external card is read as /mnt/extsd  I hope in later ROM ....

Normally: external memory >> /mnt/sdcard

Tablet C94: external memory >> /mnt/extsd

In some Smartphone, this problem is similar ......

Same problem in my Smartphone. Solved with new ROM

Before: memory internal /mnt/sdcard1
Real SDCard /mnt/sdcard2

Now: memory internal /mnt/sdcard2
Real SDCard /mnt/sdcard

Thank you for explaining, I didn't understand before, now I do....

I'm sure you or someone will come up with a solution...

Seems only three lines are being used/executed in the file details you posted, one for usb, one for the "real" sdcard and I guess the last one is for the internal storage "fake" sdcard....

dev_mount udisk /mnt/udisk auto /devices/platform/fsl-ehci.0/usb1
dev_mount extsd /mnt/extsd auto /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 4 /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.3/mmc_host/mmc0

So I would guess the dev_mount for extsd and sdcard lines need to be changed/switched, but I do not know the correct way......
dev_mount extsd /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/extsd 4 /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.3/mmc_host/mmc0
Maybe?

SWAP memory Internal/External

:clapping: Finally managed to run this Tablet!! :clapping:

It is important that the external memory (SDCard) is seen as such. Not as internal.

I was able in this way:

- Go to etc/
- Go to system/etc/

Change this lines as text in "vold.fstab"

dev_mount extsd /mnt/extsd auto /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 4 /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.3/mmc_host/mmc0

TO

dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount extsd /mnt/extsd 4 /devices/platform/sdhci-esdhc-imx.3/mmc_host/mmc0

Save and reboot Tab C94. Voilà :yahoo:

WARNING: when save line in file "vold.fstab" in system/etc/ could not read the SDcard. Change line before in "vold.fstab" in etc/ , copy this file e past in system/etc

Naturally, best result is obtained with the Tab just flashed completely empty. Now is possible install app (DroidSail App2SD; Link2SD; App2SD) for move application and games to SDCard (after ROOTED TAB C94).

Now, I have installed 180 app, and 1 Gb internal memory of my Tab C94 have ...... 190 Mb occupied :yahoo:

:D Thanks and shoot eggs are accepted

Hi all,

I got mine last week and to be honest first impression was not that great given the anticipation of quad-core etc..

Firstly, the micro-usb cable supplied does not fit. Too loose and too short. I had to use the one from my LG phone charger. Oddly the ethernet adapter and normal USB adaptor fit very nicely (a bit deeper).

Secondly, the power adaptor provided is a hazard. It fell apart when I first plugged it and had to tighten the screws for Australia plug. Still flimsy and does not work at all outlets. I may get another one.

Thirdly 3g modem on the Zenithink website that is supported did not work. That may be a simple fix with an OTG/PPP app but since the tablet is not rooted (yet) I have to root first.

Tablet does not charge via USB and OTG and I should have RTFM before ordering but it seems all the Zenithink are like that. I have a USD to 2.5mm plug on order to see if that works.

Could not download some apps from Android market (running 4.0.4). Managed to get Antutu on it through my phone and I got a 10300-10600 score depending what was running and if I had 'force GPU acceleration' on.

Cons: - no Bluetooth, no HDMI cable in the box, no GPS.
- short battery like. Juice defender improves it. Running 2 CPU's instead of all 4 makes extends the juice a bit longer
- twice now I had the black screen of death where the tablet refuses to turn on after a full overnight charge. Had to reset using the small reset hole and it came back up. Gave me a scare on both occasions.
- SD card 'issue' above is a nuisance. It is not a big deal though. Running apps off the internal storage anyways and you can use your 'external' storage (ie real SD) for data eg. pics, vids, music etc.
- manager to get my phone and a USB disk to be seen as /mnt/usb but then unplugging them and replugging gave nothing. Tried different file managers rebooting etc.. still nothing.. strange.

Pros: - fast and smooth
- thinner and lighter than other Zenithink
- good bang for buck, perhaps the best value for money (if you can put up with poor quality and some of the known quirks).

Overall it is has grown on me since I got it and I like and have a long list of improvements for it!

Cheers!

Cons

1. Software is straight dookie. (I have a unit sent to Christian Troy already to possibly fix this)
2. It's not that much faster than the dual-cores.
3. GC2000 GPU

Pros

1. Decent tablet for sub $200.

Not sure we will carry them any more after our first shipment. Depends on what CT can do with them. Right now it's a great paperweight for me.

Hello,
I have bought the zenithink c94 for few day.
the first problem i seen was the batterry indicator.
After change the firmware with the ZT285_H8_2a_1GB_Android4.0_1203_V1.08.zip, it seem better, but, i cannot activate the wifi fonction anymore.

it seems that wifi function worked before.

the only information on the model id is "ICS aosp on imx6q".

i tryed to downgrade the firmware, but in not change the problem.

Anyone can help me please ?

I've had the tablet for a couple of days now. It's the first tablet I own.

Didn't expect any miracles ordering it, mostly wanted it for the speed and the very clean design. Testing it for permanent installations.

My thoughts so far:

  • Screen is good but not very crisp. Higher resolution for this screen size would have been nice. I seem to have one dead pixel, will investigate that more
  • Firmware upgrade was needed to get battery display to work (almost correct) and Google Play store to work (got download error -101 before). Firmware update got stuck but still worked
  • Not possible to charge using USB. Will be a problem in car or while traveling. Should not be a problem for permanent installations, though the plug sticks out 3 cm which does not look good
  • Sound is only coming from the right bottom side (mono)
  • Sound from on screen keyboard sometimes disappears. Click-sound when pressing one key but not the next
  • No Bluetooth even though box says it's built in
  • No Jelly Bean... and no CyanogenMod. Will hopefully change soon
  • Rootable using Bin4ry's method. Got stuck in middle of process but worked fine
  • Regular Micro USB cables does not work. Need to be extra long, see image. The one on the left came in the box, the one one the right came with Samsung phone and does not work

Hello

Need help please.

My battery indicator on the C94 1a is not accurate it jumps from 70% to 40% then back to 80% and so on.
1) Is there any way to fix it?
2) How much time does the battery takes to fully charge? because it says 100% and when i disconnect, it quickly drains to 70%, but if i let the charger at some point it fully charges and when i disconnect only drains to 98%. "the red led just goes off when charging more than 6 hours and sometimes does not turn off"

Im using this version, so far i think is the latest ZT285_H8_1a_1GB_Android4.0_1205_V1.12

Thanx for the help

I had the same problem before I upgraded firmware to the version you mentioned.

Can you confirm you are running that version?
  • Open FileBrowser
  • Open SD Card
  • In the root there should be a .txt file with the name of your installed firmware

I noticed it took a very long time for my tablet to reach 100% the first time. Please try to charge it to full, let it drain completely and than repeat.

After some more testing I notice that the battery level still jumps up and down a lot. What got fixed with the update was the battery level dropping from 70% to 30% when removing the charger.

I now tried to play a video clip. Doing this made the level go down to 15% and then jump up and down 5-10%. Stoping the video made it go up to over 20% and sometimes rise as well. I think this suggest that the battery percentage being displayed is highly associated with the current load. I understand that if you want a countdown to show how much time you have left it should check the load over time, but the percentage should just be measured, and it should not be possible for it to raise with the charger is disconnected.
