Hi Nickos-V,

I have tried testing my bluetooth dongle. FYI it is item number 160908990438 on the bay.
It comes up as ID: 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI Mode) if you use lsusb under Linux.

According to dmesg on the tablet it is recognised but gives an error and RFKILL seems to kill off any bluetooth activity:

Also I was expecting to see a /system/etc/permissions/settings_disabled_menu_list.xml file with the bluetooth commented out but there is no file. So not sure how else to enable Bluetooth UI button on the Settings menu.

P.S. As an aside I got this dongle to try and get bluetooth on my MK808 TV Stick. I understand that only CM10 has the correct drivers avalable for this at present.

BTW for those asking earlier to get into flash mode it is the same as the N70 i.e.

1. Run RKBatchTool_1.5 and connect the USB cable on the PC
2. With power off press and hold Volume + on the tablet
3. Connect the USB cable to the USB OTG port on the tablet

If like me you have previously installed another RK3066 device on your PC this should be enough to get the green square in RKBatchTool ready for flashing the firmware. If not follow pretty much any of the guides already on here to install the correct driver. Actually the TNT Guide is probably one of the best I have seen.

For those asking about root as I stated earlier use Zhuodashi.

One problem that should be fixed is:
<3>[ 2.337060] usb 1-1: device descriptor read/all, error -71

Searching Google for "device descriptor read/all, error -71" gave me some hits. With possible solution. Not sure why no IRQ with RFKILL but good to try fixing at least this error.

There might be a better way to fix it but I have not checked. Just found that in 5 mins. and good chance it may work.


Also, below could be the cause of error -71?:

Looks like IRQ was asked for but not given. Does BT use IRQ?

rfkill appears to control wireless devices (like BT):

Also try "rfkill list" & "rfkill event" & "rfkill unblock" in terminal which may give some clues as to what is happening.

That is all I found so far. Someone with more Linux kernel knowledge may have a fix for it.

Notice the change is to "usbcore.autosuspend" from 2 (seconds) to disabled (-1). Maybe setting to 5 or 10 or 30 seconds may work??? ie. 2 second suspend could be on the low side. Best to try -1 first to see if that works. Then 30. If that works, then 15, 10 & 5.

Ok tried RFKILL unblock bluetooth which gave no errors but I still have the same error in dmesg.

Then I checked and there is no autosuspend file in /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/ although some of the other parameters mentioned in the Ubuntu forums post above are there. So I tried to create an autosuspend parameter file without any luck. I have tried Root Explorer and ES File Explorer both set to allow root access and with root and /system mounted as R/W. Neither of them would allow me to write a parameter file to that location. Could maybe try with adb.

Even if I get the device to give no errors there is still the issue of turning it on (enable Settings UI on/off switch) and getting it to be visible to other bluetooth devices.

Just in case; I did do a quick check with my Nexus 7 to see if it could see any other bluetooth devices but without any success.

Going to wait about 6 months and get a quad core, likely 8" tablet w/Bluetooth & IPS. That is why I bought a low cost N80 (non-IPS) tablet now to give me something to play with till then and get better feel for 8".

Settings UI may show up with working BT? Or maybe add something to build.prop to have it show?


PS, I may look at getting it to work too though I may get stuck at same place where you are at.

I had this always when i updated my Window N70, and always it disappeared quite fast.
I did not notice this when i did the update of the N80IPS.

I did not try to root N80IPS, but always succeed with ZhuoDaShi with RK3066 devices running JB.

I was able to get the bluetooth on/off UI working on the MK808 using the information therein.

TBH I am thinking that this will be my last rk3066 tablet, despite being sorely tempted by the Pipo M8 and Ployer momo12.

The future beckons with some interesting quad core SoCs in the not too distant pipeline; Rockchip RK3188, Allwinner A31 and Exynos 4412 (not too impressed by early reports of the latter so far but I guess they need time to settle down) . I am tempted to wait this time though. As an early adopter of the Cube UT30GT-W I think I was lucky not to get a complete lemon; mine actually worked ok and is still going strong (so the current owner tells me)!

One thing that I think is outstanding with the N80IPS is the wifi. Rock solid 150mbps anywhere in the house! I really hope future quad core tablets don't skimp on their wifi specification.

1) Backup everything important from your tablet.

2) Download the firmware from S1eepy:

5) Start RKBatchTool.exe and click on "Restore" to update the firmware. Wait for a success message
