Now I know this is a stupid question but can anyone tell me if it is possible to use pipo u1 firmware based on these specs:

I'll try this rom or any other PIPO roms with the intention of solving wifi issue or does this tablet have same issue?

Nevermind I tried and almost screwed up my tablet....never trying a rom from another model again! (yeah I know serves me well!)

Update! I just got 2 more U2 in the mail. Soon i will know if it is production or firmware problem...

Sure looks like it. they both had same slow connection like the first. Ive added my tweaks and bolts and they are much better now, but not as stable as my original, I must have done some stuff i didnt think helped or something i forget to it... Really hope a modder picks this thing up. Anyone else dug something usefull up yet?

Well seems theres a 50/50 chance of firmware issue then right? I've been searching everywhere but no dice. I did however read (can't remeber where) that this could also be related to bad drivers . To get the right drivers; figure out what brand the wifi adapter is or chip or whatever you call it. Or is this not possible?

All my 4 Pipos had horrid wifi on arrival, but all off them are very ok now. Not quite sure what fix is the major one, but the TXpower app (need root) makes a huge impact and seem to be a must. I also have Wifi Fixer service running with the Nexus fix enabled, (I am pretty sure it is the power saving settings on the tablets that is messing up communication with the router). No need for my script any more as wifi is no longer an issue for me

Do You mind me asking, what wifi router or access point are You using primarily?
And what channel do You use? Any modification like dd-wrt?

Say... I think I might finally have found the actual fix, no more workarounds. All my scripts, tweaks and apps have revolved around shutting down the android power management. I now believe the reason it is messing up our wifi is because EU reginal code is not playing well with the Asia and US regions. I have no way to be sure because my wifi is already good now. But if I am right that most of us with super slow wifi and random timeouts live in EU region you might give this a try:

if it works there should be no need for workarounds like forcing the wifi into never sleeping and so on. Give it a try and report back

I admire what you've done so far....tried both apps but no improvement at all. Still, hope is not lost...It's just a matter of time.

I have my pipo u2 for a few days and wifi is unusable... most times i cant even download a 200Kb app out of the google play store. Besides that the tablet works great..
I hope its a firmware problem and not hardware. You latest post Roberian with the Wifi apps and region code apps didnt help me.

Hope someone finds a fix or a official update will be released soon

PS: i just tried the sixaxis app on the pipo and its unusable, it connects fine to my controller but games are unplayable.
Input is very delayed and often also stuck... wonder if it might be related to the wifi problems.

Well since problems with wifi are not resolved (for some of us) I went to PIPO's site and found a new english rom. I'm downloading it now and will flash it and see if any improvements appear. Intrested in downloading this rom? (420 MB)

Hi!

i have a Pipo U2 too and WLAN Problems like other people here.

I found the english rom on the pipo site, but thats no update, its only an rom without chines language.

Here my problem with wlan. All works fine (Speed, Connections, etc), but when the pipo is going in standby (push the button or wait a few minutes) the wlan is disconnected. The Home screen shows "no internet connections).It will reconnect immediately but push mails or other services doesn´t work.

Yes, i know the option for WLAN and standby, but nothing happens.


Any ideas???

Spectrum, have you tried Roberian's tweaks or methods? If you have...then your in the same boat as us. I've basically tried all solutions, methods, tweaks and still no improvements. Googling is my only solution for now.

...I've even sent a message to Christian Troy who develops custom roms for help...but no reply (busy guy I guess).

No, i didn´t. Can i remove the root break? i habe the Pipo only for testing an will not brake it.

A newbie here.

Can anyone explain the step by step instructions from pipo on how to flash the firmware? I think it says to press the "down volume" and reset at the same time then release volume and the updater will recognize the tablet but I can't get it to see it. It says when the updater recognizes the tablet the button will turn green from pink but I can't get that. Please help.

Yes, if your going to use romtoolbox to run the scripts, other apps I have no idea. As for going back to original state you'd have to do a complete backup with CWM or TWRP.

1. Hard power off your Pipo U2 (Hold power button until it powers off)
2. While holding Volume- (down) button
3. Connect tablet to your PC via USB (update mode)
4. Install drivers
5. Run RKAndroidTool

These instructions are from someone who posted how to root piop u2, it's basically the same if you want to flash a firmware.
