They don't want e-bay links being posted so people will not make this an auction listing site. ie. e-bay is not a retailer but auction site.

The best out of those is M009S (290764763448) because:
#1. comes with Android 4.0
#2. 1 GB RAM (Android 4.x needs 1 GB to run well)
#3. 8 GB "internal" storage (ROM/nand-Flash)
#4. HDMI out (because uses A10 chip; A13 does not support HDMI). Good for video playback & gaming on TV or LCD monitor.
#5. 4000 mAh battery. 4200 mAh is the max I have seen in 7" tablets.
#6. Eken is a very good & reliable brand

Negative: 800x480 (0.384 MP) resolution. This affects reading - books, magazines, web browser, etc.. Text will look OK but not good or great. 1024x600 (0.614 MP) for very good text quality, 1280x800 (1.024 MP) for great. MP=Mega Pixels showing on the display.

For 75 GBP you can buy dual core tablet from China that will give 2.5X the performance of A10/A13 but you may have to pay 0-15 GBP for customs too. I'm talking about Ainol Novo7 Crystal or Yuandao/Window N70S.

PS, buying from China costs less than buying from E-bay except for older stuff that is on clearance/sale. In which case the price comes out to about the same.

*MINIX NEO X5 (RK3066) - OK. Not fun because uses mouse cursor.
*YUANDAO N80 DUAL (RK3066) - Very good
*CUBE U30GT (RK3066)- Defective; buttons broke in 2-3 weeks; Bad quality control!!! I will never buy a Cube again!!! - Very good while working
*WOPAD I7 (RK2918)- About OK. Sluggish because has weaker ARM chip (RK2918) & less RAM (512 MB).

No, that is Novo7 Mars. Ainol has lots of different Novo7 tablets. Chinese find one name they like and stick with it forever. Like Samsung Galaxy XXXXX.

N70S
http://www.pandawill...ite-p69691.html

Novo7 Crystal
http://www.pandawill...but-p67076.html

These are better tablet choices to get from China. Free shipping with China Post. Though I pay few dollars, $3-5, more to deliver with Hong Kong Post. Singapore Post also good too.

Any tablet can play Fruit Ninja. A10 can also handle many 3D games too with OK-good performance. Text at 800x480 is OK to read & write but not for very long time. ie. looks blurry if you zoom it in and text looks so-so (not bad but not good either) at this resolution. If son will use for lots of reading & writing then buy tablet with 1024x600 resolution.

PS, Found 1 seller for Crystal on Amazon UK too but for way more money than buying direct from China.
http://www.amazon.co...53717708&sr=1-1

Amazon & E-bay sellers cannot compete when buying goods direct from China.

Ordering N70S from China (I use Paypal whenever I can):
$103 + $3 for Singapore Post = $106 (66.12 GBP) shipped. 12-15 days to arrive. $0 for customs if passes through. Otherwise extra 5-16 GBP if checked.

thank you very much for that website its great! what would you recommend the window or the ainol ?

N70S:
-uses RK3066 which is "somewhat" better ARM chip than 8726-MX. Gives great performance in 3D and only gets warm when 3D gaming.
-built good but not great
-firmware good but not great. No good 3rd party firmware because of some closed off source files according to Christian (firmware developer).

Crystal:
-uses 8726-MX (AKA 8726-M6). It gives very good performance in 3D but can get kinda hot gaming.
-Bigger community. Lots of people like Ainol brand.
-firmware good but not great
-Some 3rd party firmware based off CM (Cyanogenmod). CM10 available. For anyone that prefers 3rd party firmware instead.
-built good (or very good)? Hard to really say build without owning Crystal or N70S.

Both tablets do not use IPS displays so equal in that sense. Both are big and well known brands and should be reliable.

Many are buying the N70 (IPS version) & Ainol Crystal. ie. bigger communities with those. N70S is fairly new (1 month?), without IPS and very likely will sell well too over time because of price point & specs.

N70 (IPS version of N70S)
http://www.pandawill...ram-p64588.html

For performance choose N70S. For big community support & 3rd party firmware (CM10) choose Crystal. I would go with N70S because of better performance & chip only gets warm while gaming. But it really depends what is more important to you.

Note: I have never used any but 3rd party firmware can be good to fix certain things, like getting "external" (USB adapters working for) GPS, Bluetooth & 3G working. Lots of tablet makers seem to leave these drivers out of their firmwares. Also, more options and control over Android.

PandaWill is *usually* good for pricing but small # of things can cost more than other sellers. It is a very good site and way to get started on buying direct from China.

I ordered N90 dual S (9.7", non-IPS) from PandaWill because the price was too good to pass up on. I chose Singapore Post (I will get tablet in 12-15 days in Canada). China & Hong Kong Post get really busy this time of year and should not be used. China Post is the default, free shipping method.

Thanks for the pluses.

8" (& 9.7") is better for lots of reading. Those sizes are both 4:3 aspect ratios. That may cause some games to stretch or not work but much better for reading & writing. Also, gives black bars on display for top and bottom when playing HD video rips. 7 & 10.1" are 16:10 (or 16:9) aspect ratios.

If your son will do lots of reading then "even" better to get him 8" tablet. 2 I can suggest.

P85 Dual Core (very popular seller but no Bluetooth. Looks very nice).
http://www.pandawill...era-p65201.html

Pipo S2 (has internal Bluetooth but more of a bulky/boxy look to it).
http://www.pandawill...ack-p68274.html

I would choose P85 Dual unless Bluetooth is important to you. Both use RK3066 chip. I hear P85 Dual is very good. Pipo S2 is supposed to be fairly good too.

Firmware = Android OS + drivers. It gets flashed to nand-flash (ROM chip inside tablet). It is developed and released by the tablet maker.

New firmware means fixed or newer Android OS.

Yuandao's site is too busy lately so I will show you Cube's firmwares for their tablets:

OK. No worries. No company can please 100% of the customers. =) I have seen bad reviews for other sites too like Merimobiles but yet many people still buy from them. Same for Elijah (AliExpress seller) and yet they still get about 97% happy customers. ie. 50,000 customers x 4% unhappy = 2,000 unhappy. If 10% complain, then that would be 200 people with negative reviews. Compare that with the other 48,000 customers that are happy.

I ordered two times previously from PandaWill and the experience was very good. I expect the same for this 3rd order. One item was out of stock and maybe hard for them to get. It took 10-14 days to ship off but it came. ie. people who get angry with them because hate waiting 1 or maybe 2 weeks for items to get shipped off because PandaWill keeps limited stock on hand. In stock, ships 2-3 workdays. Out of stock, can take 1 or 2 weeks before it ships. Items that look in stock on the site may have to be ordered in. Smaller sellers, like on AliExpress, are usually much better at getting stock in and sending out orders very quickly.

You can always try AliExpress if you are OK giving them credit card info. I and others have bought off of there too. AliExpress is E-Bay for China. Good and bad sellers on AliExpress. Make sure to check for lots of user ratings. ie. more than 400 is great seller. With at least 94% or higher rating. Also, closely check over item title & description to make sure you order the right item.

http://www.aliexpress.com

PS, only people that have bad experience complain. Compare that to the tens/hundreds of thousands with good experience that never say anything.

There are lots and lots of Chinese sellers out there. Impossible to know which are good or not. You will have to check for negative reviews to decide.

#1. Don't always trust what Chinese sellers tell you. They care about selling. Most are bad with customer service (ie. returns). Also, HK geek may or may not refund Customs. I cannot say. Some even send bad/broken tablets to customers. Be careful of that too.

#2. Very sure that HK Geek ships out of China even though their website appears made to attract UK buyers. So, you may or may not get hit with Customs. Lots of Chinese sellers will mark the package low, like $30-40 USD & say e-reader or electronic picture frame, etc.

With AliExpress it is easy to see who the good & bad sellers are because they have rating system. You can see how many sales/deals each seller has done & their rating/ranking too. But you must pay by credit card.

PS, all Chinese sellers offer 1 or more courier service too when checking out. ie. you could have chosen DHL with Pandawill too but they charge lots for courier service. Pandawill is only priced good with regular mail delivery options. I avoid courier because I am fairly sure greater chance to get hit by Customs. ie. using regular mail seems to pass through much easier and less likely to get checked.

PPS, 2 or 3 people have said banggood.com is really good. Also, they have coupon code for 7% off (bgxmas). No N70S but they do have N80 (8") for $116 before coupon. 8" is much better for reading & typing on. Also, you get almost 40% more screen area over 7".
http://www.banggood....et-p-54006.html

Not sure who they ship with. China Post gets super bad this time of year and HongKong Post gets bad too. Should try to ship with Singapore Post for regular mail or courier to get your tablet on time. Or HongKong Post as last resort.

if you are worried about paying for goods bought on the internet tnen use paypal
you then deal with paypal rather than the vendor

Most online sites take Paypal but not all of them. AliExpress is credit card only. AliExpress did Paypal for 1-2 years but no longer. Paypal wanted to charge them higher fees because they were taking business away from E-Bay.
