Ive opened this topic to help users and developers trace hardware and software compatibility. It is intended to help users be aware of the custom roms compatible with their set and developers to easily trace problems such as hardware and firmware compatibility or other issues with regards to the Crystal. I encourage everyone to share their experience with their present flash roms. It is most appreciated if users could share the following information:

Crystal serial number:(found at the back of the tablet) ex."A NOVO7CRYSTAL121108.."
Flashed ROM: ex.SoulGem_v0.1.zip/ cm10-elf2-20121110.zip+gapps-jb-20121011-signed-ubifs.zip+crystal-cm10-compatibility-1.5.zip
Comments: (please state if it worked ok or please specify problems if any)

I think with this system we could easily avoid compatibility issues and quickly detect bugs

On the back of your tablet you will see a serial number that looks like this A NOVO7CRYSTAL121008G08473 with the portion I highlighted in red being the build date.

It appears that the 120908 and 121008 dates are batch 1 and 121108 would be batch 2, and 121208 batch 3.

Update:There are two kinds of Batch 3 (121208) Crystal's, the first has a grady.wang kernel and is really just a Batch 2. The second has a chengen.tan kernel and is the real Batch 3.


Batch 3 crystal users (especially newbies) we advise you to wait or be updated with the firmware development threads. Currently guys from the firmware developing group is still figuring out batch 3. It is best to read first before flashing any rom from the Crystal thread or you might end up BRICKING your tablet.

while B comes with sticker only AInol pass 1

I talked with my friend in China who have Aurora2, they said "pass 1 is relatively cheaper" than pass 2
Maybe the quality is slightly different.

As requested by rca.

i installed 1109/1119, then the compatibility for crystal 1.5 and vpnfix, either of the works...only black screen appears after ainol novo7 crystal logo. but when i use 1.1 it works but cant detect my internal and external sdcard. camera is still green and closes cause of undetected storage

Maybe pass 5 is the highest standard. :)To be honest Im not really sure if the post even applies for the crystal

Thank you for posting. Based on serial number topic of aurora your crystal (in theory) Standard A NOVOCRYSTAL 2012 SEPTEMBER 08GB (Still No idea for the last 5 numbers). I think its batch 1. Hoping someone could correct me if im wrong.

I think the pass stickers are irrelevant to the batch type and are probably just a quality control sticker. I'm saying that as I bought two Crystals (for my twin sons' Christmas) and they both have serial numbers that start 121108 but have different pass stickers (pass 1 and pass 2).

I'm still unsure though as to how the serial number relates to the batch type though. Does anyone know if 121108 is batch 1 or batch 2?

I have 2 crystal tablets one I got in october and the other I got 3 days ago.The first tablet I have flashed 1119 and 1109 both roms run smooth except for green screen.It now has a build number 2012119.The second tablet which I got 3 days ago everything works perfect tablet UI g sensor camera so on.Its build number is 20121108.So I would like to know where is this firmware it is obviously out there as it is being used on my tablet so why dont they release it?

Comments: No other Comp Zip's have worked for me, I always have to fall back to 1.0. Firetest and Sleeptest didn't work to help with newer Comp Zip compatibility. Camera and G-Sensor work. After following all the steps outlined in my "Get Started" guide I've had 1 random reboot in the last couple of weeks, no sleep of death and 20+ hours of standby/sleep time with the battery, 6+ hours of light usage.

OLD POST -- No Custom Rom works so far. I can flash CM10 for example but Compatibility zip refuses to install. (Tested with Version 1.5, 1.02, 1.1) -- OLD POST

After comment of Inselaffen I found out that CWM didn't start. It worked after I made a smaller FAT Partition on sdcard (<2GB).


Official Firmware (1119-English) works fine no Problems. (Antutu Bechmark@1200mhz: 6715)
- Bluetooth via USB is not supported

Cyanogenmod 10 (cm-10-20121117-UNOFFICIAL-elf2) with Compatibility zip 1.1 works fine no Problems. (Antutu Benchmark@1200mhz: 8069)
+ Bluetooth via USB-dongle is supported
- Cam rotates in oposite dirction

AOKP (aokp_elf2_unofficial_Nov-17-12) with Compatibility zip 1.1 works fine.
- various Problems with Browser (youtube for example)
- Cam rotates in oposite dirction

I had that problem until I installed CWM and them CM10 installed ok. but had broken crystals after sleep or using a video and laggy touch screen. I'm using a new batch crystal. had the broken crystal problem and G Sensor not working with soulgem.
now on 1109 but playstore is very limited.

Official ROM 1109 works with this tablet but whenever Official ROM 1119 is installed and when I play a video stored on my SD card I get a hissing sound coming from the speakers every 3 seconds lasting for approximately half a second. this does not occur with music stored on SD card or video played from internet.

Reflashing the tablet with the 1109 official rom and the hissing sound was not present so it is obviously something introduced in the new official 1119 english rom. For anyone with a new batch crystal and official 1119 ROM, it might be worth trying to play a video to see if you get the hissing sound. Just for info, it was a VOB file I was playing so will check if other filetypes have the same issue.
