Now that my M2 3G is on the way....who provides 3G internet service in the U.S. for these devices??

I believe ATT will be my only option for service.

My Pipo Max-M2 3G (as stamped on the back of the unit) arrived yesterday. Stock firmware runs smooth, no problems with any buttons. It did arrive with JB 4.1.1 and a handful of Chinese apps which I uninstalled...took less than 10 minutes. Overall I am very impressed with the speed and smoothness of the unit. The WiFi downloads were much faster than my previous tablet, a Mediacom M907c with CM10. I will attempt a 3G connection today but need to purchase a SIM card and data plan from ATT. I believe they are my only option in the U.S.

what firmware does it carry? date/number please eg DSH973 20121108?

how did u remove the chinese apps? did u root it? did u flash any custom rom like TNT or decontaminate?

do give a feed back if 3G works or not once u get the sim.

Picked up a 3G sim from T-Mobile yesterday. Still stock firmware on M2. Plugged it in, turned on modem power in settings. The tablet found the network and authenticated. The icon shows an E so I believe I am only getting Edge speed not true 3G. It does work though. Common sense says to use the sim in a portable hot spot unit and WiFi connect to that. 4G speed instead of Edge with the same sim card.

Comments?? Ideas?

You sure its not simply a network/area issue ? Perhaps try elsewhere or see if you can pick a better network ? If the only solution is to get a mobile wifi for internet, it kind of defeats the purpose of the built in 3G and the extra price + incompatible firmware with its non-3G sister tablet.

I'm here in the Philippines but I'm having exact problem mentioned in this thread. It's signal is grps or edge and no way can get 3g. I connect a USB 3g donggle and that works perfectly fine. Is there a way that the internal 3g modem can be forced to be set to WCDMA only?

My understanding is that wcdma in the US is old and will max out st Egde speed. Will test further.

my pipo max m2 3G with stock firmare dsh975 20121106...shows 3G sometimes and E (for edge) sometimes..
i tested the speed on speed test.net and the best i could get was 60kbps download and 40kbps upload..these are 2G/edge speeds is it not? so am not sure if this is a service provider issue or a tablet issue..

also the tablet does not show the name of the network in the settings panel..i have to go under the data usage and more..and then see that it is connected..

any idea what will the tablet use if both sim network modem is on and another wifi network is connected simultaneously?

on windows it usually uses the one that was connected last, ignoring the earlier ones. But thats windows, no idea for android. There is an app called PPP Widget thats used to get non-standard 3g sticks to work on tablets, I'm not quite sure if it'll be useful but perhaps it can give you the ability to choose your network ? I haven't used it yet however.

update...my sim card internet 3G could get download 750 kbps and upload 1250 kbps...probably speed is there fore a service provider issue..am using airtel 3G..but the problem is its not latching to the 3G network most of the time its on 2G so maybe there is an issue in getting wcdma only (maybe its wcdma preferred?)

on switching 3g then wifi(both)..it latches on to wifi..

motto i think the internal 3g model is already set to WCDMA..

There are 3 Mobile Service provider in the Philippines and all of them provides 3G pre-paid services. One provider can connect to 3G just fine but I wanted the other provider which provides cheaper internet rates and that's the one I'm having problems getting to connect to 3G. Using "Phone info" app (Google Play) I tried to force the table to connect to "WCDMA Only" but it doesn't let me do it. It stays at "WCDMA Preferred" no matter what I do. But when I'm using the USB 3G dongle (Huawie e1552) it allows me to select "WCDMA Only" and that forced the 3G USB Dongle to connect to 3G and it works perfectly.

I was thinking of updating the firmware but it already has the latest "DS975-eng 4.1.1 JRO03H 20120924.144826" as mentioned here http://www.slatedroi...2-driver-issue/

Is there a way we can update the firmware of the 3G Modem? I think it's the MKT2 as shown in the baseband.

The tab's specs say it only supports 2100MHZ

Have you tried PPP Widget ? I understand some people use it to get non-supported 3g dongles to work, perhaps it has that option for wcdma only.
