i order an MK808 Dual Core Android 4.1 Jelly Bean TV BOX Rockchip RK3066 Mini PC stick for $64 including insurance & shipping. this will replace my now ALLwinner MK802 mini pc from single core to dual core and will try XBMC because allwinner just support software rendering i would like to see if rk3066 chipset get hardware rendering the only one right now supporting full rendering is the amlogic since the release the kernel source to xmbx developer.
Convert any HiDef lcd into and SMART TV

i have got both ics and jb firmware and will make my custom rom generick mod to it as soon i get it.

A quick search over at the xbmc forums would indicate that there is no RK3066 hardware decode support at present. AMLogic or nothing, I'm afraid.

here is a video XBMC running in a Amolig arm tv box and it look nice maybe software rendaring could work since this has quad mali and dual core hope to get it soon and test it

Snap! I just ordered one myself today from in4dealz with an airmouse/keyboard and mini hub.
Looks like a decent device. Will be trying xbmc too

Just got mine too (actually it's borrowed as mine is still in the post . Wow it's small! Quick boot up and it seems very impressive. Saw my Windows shares without any issues. Seems almost as smooth as my rk3066 tablets although I think it is clocked at a lower speed.

EDIT: It came with 4.0.4 ICS. A few issues...screen overfills the TV display at 1080p or looks squashed at 720p.
Also had an issue with WiFi not connecting. Going to try finless Bob`s v1.4 ROM and xbmc.

what about XBMC does it work? or it slow

I couldn't get it to see any of my movies. It could see my network shares but no media. Maybe need an add on? Do you know anything about setting up xbmc? Thanks.

Es File Explorer could see the shares and I could stream the movies using mx player.

Trying to figure it out from the xbmc wiki and it's leading me in circles!

It shows a video source type called NFS share on the wiki but I don't get that on my version of xbmc.
Anyway I added a couple of video addons for streaming YouTube and CBS news. The result was quite jerky video, maybe 10 fps and no sound on the YouTube one so I'm guessing without h/w decoding support it's not much use.

Edit: ok tried xbmc playing an sd resolution video and a 720p one from the internal memory. The sd one actually plays ok, quite watchable. The 720p one is quite jerky & unwatchable. Both play fine using the built in video player or mx player.

From flicking through the XBMC forums, it would seem that the firmware for the RK3066 is all closed-source and therefore the devs don't have the necessary information to be able to add the functionality for accelerated video/graphics part of the chip.

The source for the AMLogic chips is available and support for the acceleration has been produced by a company for their own devices (which can be hacked to be used for other devices using the same chips). It looks unlikely that similar support for RK3066 will be available any time soon.

Thanks for the information Mariner. Lack of xbmc is not a deal breaker for me though I know a lot of people use it and swear by it.

I do hope the new firmware that is due out any day now sorts out the Tv output though. That will be a deal breaker for many.

If you take a look around there are solutions available so that XBMC will play video in an external video player such as MX player rather than it's internal player. Not as nice as having the all in one solution but many people say it is quite acceptable.

For a good dual core stick which is able to run XBMC with hardware acceleration keep an eye out for the MyGica ATV120 or other branded versions of it. It has the Amlogic 8726-MX chip.
