Received this tablet recently, and I'm trying to figure out if I should install the new V1.5 firmware from Onda- http://www.onda.cn/T...x?ProductId=220
Currently have
kernel version 3.0.8-gf393140-dirty
connor.zhang@droid04-sz #2

Build number
ICS.g12refM806A1SPI.20120823

Any info would be appreciated.

Mine is V711 with v1.4 firmware. I tried v1.5 as soon as they released on their web site, it was amazing that antutu score reachs 10k and quadrant 5761(with max cpu freq at 1.51 GHz), on the top of score chart. And I heard people comment that the battery last longer than the previous firmware ver.

I think it worth a try.

How is app compatibility in Google playstore with VI.5? I can see every app now.

Unfortunately I couldn't test that much with this firmware version. After I reboot, it stuck at boot screen. I tried reinstall the firmware and same result, maybe something wrong with my hardware. I'm trying to figure it out.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get it fixed. Sounds like I should hold off on updating for a bit.

I agree with you, web browser and e-book reader perform much faster than v1.4, but I'm still with v1.4
How is battery life?

Only 1 day so far, hard to say if it's better-I'll know in a couple days.

Well, i would say that i will probably average 5-6 hours screen time, depending on what you're doing. Obviously graphics-intensive games will have less time, sitting and reading ebooks much more. very good performance with the update, here's the Quadrant

It really was quite a jump in performance, going to v1.5. the increase from v1.4 is almost unbelievable.
Quadrant-was 3325, now 5318
Antutu-was 6330, up to 9792
Linpack-was 69 is now up to 105.3
Someone at Onda must know what they're doing.

Guys, why don't you move this thread to the Onda dual-core forum? More onda users would read and reply to your posts.

Onda v1.5 is fine but some languages are missing, so beware. AFAIK there is no polish, sweedish, dutch support.

Guys, How do you like this tab (v801)?

I'm thinking about getting one myself (the v811 since there's not v801 on sell in onda's website).

What other good options there are in 8' size? Anyone has info about the Pipo S2? What about the Cube models U10GT and U23GT

Thanks in advance.

I have to say this is by far the best tablet I've owned. 5-6 hours battery life, every app is compatible in playstore, including gameloft. Performance is just super smooth and fast. Some people like Rockchip better but I prefer this amlogic tablet. No lag, no freezes, no reboots. Can't really say anything bad about it.

Thanks for the prompt reply Will. I'm also very excited about it.

One more thing: did you buy it directly from Onda's website or elsewhere?

Cheers from Brasil.

Don't think the JB is out for the V802 yet.
