Hi all, I have a Visture 4 HD and today made the switch to CWM. I installed Beta4a plus cwm Recovery and after that flashed (cwm)v7t4. Unfortunately I found the tablet to be very much laggy, especially showing when putting images on the screen. Took 2 to 3 seconds to sharpen them, build-up of images mostly in blocks. I was not pleased with the resolution, even after Holo-changing-rebooting a number of times (and/or changing the values in build.prop. Something wrong there.
Not being happy with that, what I did is download Rick's Beta4b CWM (based on 240113 Visture fw) and I flashed this in CWM over the v7t4 version.
I have a snappy tablet right now!!
However, I wonder what I do not have yet !! :-)
Before customizing any further I want to try this setup out some more, see if it holds and remains stable.
Anyone who has any comments or suggestions on this?
Thanks
Hans

From what you are describing, your fault was impatience.
1st: huge pictures you will not get rendered under 2 seconds on any 1.5 mhz cpu tablet, i am afraid. Even pregenerated previews will not speed up the processs, if previews are 2000x1500 pixels.
2nd: you have to give the system some time in the beginning BEFORE you begin testing performance! If you look at a task analyser, there is the media.app that is scanning in all media once, sometimes again. So especially, when you mount an external sd-card filled with high rez photography... go and cook a can of coffee. Only after that, you can test, how fluent the system is.
Over all, there should not be a difference performance wise between the Danericks and the Genericks. They all use the cpu to the same extend, i would say.
Try to get an idle state, and after that go into testing. Keep pictures away at first, than test a folder of maybe ten.
when you know, how the media scan react on the media, add the whole library. ;o)
You might even deactivate media scan completely, but i would not recommend that.
Use i.e. a tool: quick system info pro.apk for displaying cpu usage and confirm idle state.

One question I do have right now, maybe confirming if my approach is correct:
I now run beta 4b cwm. Just SUPPOSE, I want to move to generick v7t4 again (or later versions if/when they come), is it enough to put the image on top of the current setup using cwm? More specifically: is it (or not) necessary to empty any cache or do sth else? Just running cwm and flashing is enough?
Thanks, again...

Always do the "wipe cache partition" and the "davlic cache wipe", when you flash different builds.
As long as you not do the "wipe data/factory reset" option, your installed programs AND their settings will be fine.
Yes, you can flash the other cwm builds over each other without damage, afaik. Rick, please confirm.

What is the advantage of this rom?
We keep getting new releases absed on all sorts of roms.
That is nice but is it worth it? What's the difference on the archos rom?

After a fresh RKAT install of R97, the system started OK. Testing now.
Findings:
- No Ram Bug! That is a breakthough for a producers stock rom.
- Rotation OK.
- Nice touch screen calibration integrated. Improves in fact accuracy of touches imho.
- Archos Update Service is in fact working (but has no updates available so far).
- root works.
- HD/Normal switch of the system works, no urgent need for the resolution switch script. But it does not change the build.prop dpi that nicely (it stays at 320 dpi). So i would prefer the holo switcher.
- system seems snappy in HD, but they might just timed the scrollings differently. It does not need to be really "faster" and powerfull.
- Rick, look at the WiFi and the battery symbol! That is at least thhe one, we expect. Big, blue and solid.
- Got Battery stats! Rick!
- Internal AND external SD-Card not mounted /recognized. Very big downside. The Rom is unsable.
- NO Bluetooth! Very big downside.

OK, sorry, all 97R files (see ricks download on first post) AND the CWM recovery of course.
I did a full wipe by that... There was no bootloop after that
But again: i do NOT recommend the incompatible (internal SD-card and BT ot available yet) Archos-ROM called a97titaniumBlueskyrom, that Rick provided!!!!! See my remarks above! Maybe a good base, but heavily damaged also.

I had many problems with Google Play compatibility so i decided to install something unofficial.
I installed the recovery and Generickmod_V7 TEST4.
First, I have some problem with installing recovery - it stuck on Visture logo. Then I installed the soft from sd card- actually it showed that there was no "sd card" but it was possible to choose another external card.
Test4 works fine, compatibility with Google Play is now very good, but I have another problem.
I can't use some apps (like dropbox) because it shows no sd card.
Es explorator shows files from sd card, but only form the path /mnt/external_sd/
The system notifies that the sd card is damaged and suggests formating it. I formated it but it hasn't repaired it.
What is more, I don't see all available space form my n90fhd (16GB).
Internal storage:
total spaace 1,97GB
Nand flash:
doesn't show anything (only: "mount sd card")
SD Card
Total space 14,62GB.
I would be grateful if you could tell me in a simple way how to solve this issue.

I suppose, even this carefull installation over a former GV7T4 will not bring Bluetooth or intSD, right Rick?
