WWW Browser: Dolphin Browser - currently I am unable to test Chrome because it's incompatible with 815 fw. I had to check 3 popular Android web browsers. Opera Mobile is quite popular, but latest updates made it sluggish and slow comparable to default browser. Not a good option. Firefox is very responsive, scrolling and zooming is smooth and fast, really good browser with adblock plugin. But the best desktop-like experience is offered by Dolphin Browser. It's just as fast FF, supports hardware keyboard and hardware flash player. It also offers bunch of plugins for better customization. Highly recommended.
Launcher: GO Launcher EX - Why this one? There are plenty of better or worse looking launchers in Play Store. But this is the only one that lets me change the size of icons, fonts, grid any way I like and this is quite important for high resolution 7" tablet. Other important features are: app drawer folders and easy sorting, memory cleaner, home screen UI working similarly to JB. Oh and it's also pretty stable launcher.
RSS/News Reader: Google Currents - I wonder why it's not preinstalled with official fw. Using this reader with 1280x800 resolution and 7" screen is just amazing experience. It syncs with your Google Reader subscriptions and has a huge catalog of news sources.

VLC Player - still beta but solid. plays basically everything.
Power AMP - great audio player with equalizer.

Why Go Launher EX? Go Launcher HD is way better than tablet.

Still havent got my Fire from G a d g e t G r e a t s . com
After 28 days (no working tracking number... thinking I might be a victim of the new law that prohibits batteries sent in the mail... grumble) but anyway... some of my favorite apps are:
Antutu benchmark
MX video player
Dropbox <----- must have for sideloading apps
Pat, how is your Netflix working? On my Ainol Elf II it is a FAIL... stuttering constantly making it just about unwatchable. I am hoping it runs fluidly like on my daughters Kindle Fire... sorry if its a touch off topic.
Cheers

I find Opera Mobile still seems the most robust browser over-all.
I haven't really found the need for a launcher, I just group apps in folders on home screen.
Still using advanced II while I await flame.

I'm using aldiko premium as my reader and so far it works pretty well.
Browser:
Opera Mobile
Launcher:
TSF Shell/Apex ( I would give 100% to tsf if they handled auto rotate).
Music:
TTPOD
Keyboard:
Go keyboard ( This is the only keyboard I've found that has chinese input while still having split keyboard). The others I've found either have really tiny text or do not support split keyboards.
Movies:
Netflix

Ok, gave the iPad to my better half and will be flying to a new project in Jakarta, with the Fire. If it dies I will kick all you asses personally....hehe

I would also say Netflix 1.8 is a must have for Novo7 Fire users that have not changed to Flambe or Feiyu.

explorer: the stock explorer is good when you connect usb and external card and you can quickly access it from home icon; the RE or ES explorer is good for root access but you have to go to mnt and look for the cards; is there any good explorer which gives a folder view and file view? i some times find ghost commander is better;
mmx player; mobiplayer is not good or rather i am not able to use hardware accleration; i downloaded armv8 lib and only software acceleration is working; somebody suggested bsplayer; i am looking for it;

Cannot check right now. But I see Google_PlayStore_v3_47 in Patche.zip. Did you apply this patch after installing Novo7Fire.zip?
