Hey all,

I had an issue with my cube today. I was using it in the morning and set it down, came back and it was off. I took it to work, and tried to turn it on about 4hrs later, and it wouldn't.

I tried an hour later, and no go. Then about 2hrs later I tried it and it worked. The battery was at 100%, and seemed to be draining normally.

I'm not sure what happened but has this happened to anyone else?

I'd had the same problem myself. Thought it was dead. Couple of hours later it seemed fine. That was a month ago and it hasn't happened again since.

Hi - Help needed! I received my Cube (U30GT 10.1") in mid July 2012, and it worked fine - no problems. Micro-SD card formatted to NTFS, and a UK-sourced charger purchased and used. However, last Friday (28 Sep), the Cube wouldn't power-on despite being at 58% charge 30 mins earlier, and I haven't got it to power-on since then. I've charged it twice since then, and pressed the on-button for various periods of time (1 second, 5 sec, 10 secs) and still the screen doesn't start-up. I've inserted a metal paper-clip in the reset hole, pressed down (no click heard), and still no joy.
Has anyone any thoughts on what I can do to bring the Cube back to life, please?
Many thanks for reading this. Steve

Look at the unbricking threads here and at fma. Screw drivers may be required.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

There is no reset button on the U30GT. So, you likely were pushing on the mic or into an empty hole?

It takes a couple of days, I would say 4-5 days, for U30GT battery to fully drain. At which point, you should be able to plug in and tablet should power up within 2 minutes. Dead battery has the same effect as hitting the reset switch.

Otherwise, you can open up the tablet. Look for reset contact points. Then use some metal object to short them. That should get the tablet working again.

You can also try plugging in power adapter and then holding power button for 10-15 seconds to see if that gets it going.

Your tablet likely went into deep sleep mode and does not want to wake up. Or OS or app could have froze it. That's why reset switch is good to have.

Edit: *hopefully* in deep sleep it will still drain battery but cannot say for sure. Drain maybe very slow and could take a lot longer. If you cannot get it working after 5 days unplugged, you may have to open and short out the reset contact points.

Tablet does not have reset switch/button. So, you have to let the battery drain out.

#1. Let the battery fully drain. Takes about 4-5 days when fully charged. 2-3 days for half charge. Dead battery is like pushing rest switch.
#2. After battery is dead, plug in power adapter. Tablet should start in first 10 seconds.
#3. Try pushing power button if it does not turn on.
#4. Hold power button for 15 seconds if it does not turn on.
#5. Still no power? Unplug and leave it for 2 more days and then do #2-#4.
#6. Still no power? Something is broken with tablet. Have to send back for repair.

A voltage spike or surge can burn out a chip or the board. This can happen when plugging in the charger. Should always plug charger into power strip (or wall) 1st and then into tablet or phone.

A high current charger can burn out the charging chip. Tablet is meant for 1.5A charger. 2A works OK but anything higher could damage the charging chip. See here:

I am having the same problem,

I bought a new u30gt-m tablet a few months ago (november) from ChinaBuye Limited , Item arrived after 2 months.

I was used the tablet for the first time and when the battery runs out the tablet won't turn on. I tested the charger it's ok.

I opened the tablet , make the shortcut, restore the original 1.03 the tablet was working fine. when it runs out of battery the same problem.

Doesn't turn on.

I contacted the seller about returning the tablet and have it repaired or send me a new one or have a refund and their answer was.......

Go and fix it to a local store (the new tablet) and have a 10% discount in my new order.

I want to send it back and they don't want it.

Never buy from ChinaBuye

So i am stuck with a new not turning on tablet .

Do you know any solution that i can solve this problem.(charger is working fine)

I do have a problem with turning on my cube too.

1. the tablet powered down
2. on reboot it is stuck in the "no cube no fun" boot screen
3. connecting it to my pc (back usb port) it went to usb storage mode. In usb storage mode i tried to access settings and reset it to factory default. Resetting worked but homescreen showed me an "ui not responding error"
4. After reset to factory default the "ui not responding error" kept occurring
4. upon next reboot without usb cable it was stuck again on the "no cube no fun" reboot screen
5. trying to reboot into usb storage mode resulted into the computer recognizing the u30gt but the tablet did not start storage mode.
6. I tried installing rockchip batchtool, tablet did not show up. I tried installing the rockchip usb driver manually, didn't work because windows says wrong driver (which is not the case). Device Manager in Windows 7 shows u30gt-h but wont let me install rockchips usb drivers.
7. Installed android adb (which seems to recognize the tablet - kind of funny because I did not activate usb debugging as far as i remember) but in the sdk prompt adb devices shows no device at all. Already tried adding the vendor manually to the adb_usb.ini
8. Superoneclick recognizes that an android device ist connected but always stalls.

9. Also recovery mode does not work at all, tried different pcs, different usb cables, pressing vol+ and power for several minutes like a dozen times.

So I'm kind of stuck with this tablet that starts up into the "no cube no fun" screen but does not load android though it is already set back to factory defaults and runs on stock rom. Is there some kind of magic I'm missing here?
Also, is there any option to disable usb debugging without accessing android ui or android sdk as both appear to be not working?

Sounds like you need to reflash. I'd download a stock image from cubes site and try that. On some later versions of windows you may have to enable unsigned drives.

Opening the U30GT starts with two very small Torx T3 screws, they are on the outer sides of the metal plate covering the buttons/connections. After that you ony need a small philips screwdriver. I already replaced my batterypack but was rewarded with only 2 day of joy :help: When that battery was empty I had suddenly 2 not charging batteries :cray:
Seems in my case the charging circuit is the problem......
